TDM #5

TEST DRIVE & SIMULATION #5

CONTENT WARNINGS: forced scenarios, partial nudity, alcohol use

▶ 001. ARRIVAL / CAFETERIA.

It happens in the blink of an eye -- a dash of time. You're taken from where you were. What you were doing.. it isn't important anymore, and slowly, you give up to desire your normal life. When you awake, figures are looking down on you from a surgical table.

"Yeah, this one will do; let's take them to the rest," That's all you see before losing consciousness again, only to wake up in a pod with many others.

"Your questions will be answered soon enough as I'm sure you will have many," a female, robotic voice says.

Just then, your pod opens in a dim corridor with many others. Your new life is about to begin... whether you like it or not.

The pods drain their stasis fluid which wakens each Outsider. When Outsiders emerge from their pod in only their undergarments which have been supplied to them and head to a locker room in the medical bay, to find a towel to dry off with, a set of gray loungewear to wear as LILITH makes the final decision in organizing the Outsider to their rightful teams. If a character has any accessibility needs, they will be found here. It's about then they will feel a sharp pain at the back of their eyes, almost like there’s a foreign body lodged on the inside of their head. This pain will subside quickly as their body adapts to the changes, but there will always be a sensation of something being not quite right. That their bodies have been changed forever. They would be correct in thinking that. In the pod, all Outsiders have been surgically fitted with ocular and brain implants that will enable them to communicate with LILITH and the rest of the crew, and feed them the information they require. Almost like a computer screen has been loaded into their brains, they will see a loading screen as the implant completes its download. A questionnaire will then pop up, waiting for their answer. A voice, robotic and feminine, will also read along in their brain for them.

█ █ █ LOADING COMPLETE … BEGIN ORIENTATION …

Name:
Username:
Civilian Identity:
Age:
Species:
Origin:

What is your darkest fear?

The system will give Outsiders one chance to provide a truthful answer and choose their username and civilian identity. Should they refuse to cooperate, the implant will download the answer directly from their brain (and give them a username or civilian name against their will). This questionnaire will then be posted on the network for all to view and reply to. Almost like an ice-breaker, if you will. LILITH wants all their newest recruits to learn about each other!

Outsiders will receive a quick brief about their situation: They will be told that the year is 2278, and they have been taken to Neo Tokyo, one of the last bastions of mankind in a world terrorized by various Kaiju and monsters. Only a third of the population remains, and LILITH has gathered talented people from other dimensions here as a last ditch effort to save humanity. Outsiders are free to continue asking LILITH questions through their implant, but there’s no guarantee they will provide them with a straight answer …

Outsiders will also notice an implant in their dominant wrist. This implant has a barcode in it that will enable them to purchase goods from the local stores in Neo Tokyo. They will receive a starting balance of 10,000 KRYPTOS (about USD 66), which is barely enough for a few good meals, groceries and supplies. They can view their current balance through a hologram window projected by their ocular implant.

While there would normally be a meal available for them in the cafeteria, this doesn’t seem to be the case this time. Robots working within the cafeteria will instead be handing out food ration bars to each Outsider. They are dense with calories and nutrition, but taste a bit like sawdust.

That familiar, robotic voice is heard again:

"Greetings, my name is SYNTHIA and I will be taking care of you today while the rest of the crew is busy handling a recent issue. Worry not, my children. You are in safe hands."

▶ 002. THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME.

Existing Outsiders will receive a call to report to the data portal within Las Vegas. They’ve done their parts helping to take down the worm kaiju and assisting with the clean up of the city. LILITH’s army of cleaner drones can take the rest from here. It’s been a physically and emotionally draining mission for everyone, and it’s time to head home. The beaming back to Neo Tokyo will go rather smoothly for the most part (and yes, holding someone’s hand through it still helps), but upon arrival, Outsiders might be struck with a splitting headache, nausea and vertigo. They might need an hour or so to recuperate, which they can do in their rooms or the sick bay.

New and fresh Outsiders will be given the task to take care of their seniors as they recuperate. Make sure they have water and food (even if it’s terrible ration bars). Give them a massage, or cheer them up because they’ve had such a difficult mission! It’s a great way to build bonds and get to know your teammates. Ask them what happened in Vegas! They’ll be more than happy to tell you.

▶ 003. TOO HOT TO HANDLE.

One thing Outsiders will notice immediately upon stepping foot in the Neo Tokyo base is that it is hot. Did someone forget to turn on the air conditioning? The rest of Neo Tokyo doesn’t seem to be any better. With summer approaching, the city has been hit with a heatwave, and it doesn’t help that the heat is interfering with the city’s power generators. This means that not only is it hot, but notices are popping up within everyone’s implants to be mindful of how much electricity they are using. Blackouts appear to be happening all over the base and the city. Electricity is being rationed, and when residents exceed it, it’s cut off.

This is having a devastating impact on the people of Neo Tokyo. The fact that it’s hot and there isn’t much air conditioning is one thing. Hospitals are also struggling from an influx of patients being admitted due to heat stroke, dehydration and severe sunburns. Fires are breaking out more often in the heat and this is only making things worse.

On top of it all, restaurants and stores have been greatly impacted by the electricity rations. Refrigerators and freezers are not working, so food storage is a problem and fresh ingredients are going bad. Restaurants are desperate to sell off what remains of their stock before it spoils. LILITH has been giving out food ration bars and non-perishable meals (such as canned food) and it’s been keeping the people from starving, but their subpar taste doesn’t seem to help the morale one bit.

While LILITH knows that older Outsiders have just had a difficult mission, there’s no choice but to activate them once again. A mission brief will pop up in everyone’s implants:
█ █ █ MISSION OBJECTIVE:

✖Contain heat-wave related fires and conduct rescue operations
✖Assist hospitals to care for the influx of patients while they may not have the power to use their medical equipment
✖Distribute water and food rations to citizens in need
✖Assist restaurants and supermarkets to salvage their food supplies as far as possible

While things aren’t looking too great, the Neo Tokyo Meteorological Agency is promising that temperatures will go down when the rainy season comes along. There hasn’t been much rain recently, however …

▶ 004. WELCOME TO OKINAWA.

After a few days of continued efforts to support the people of Neo Tokyo, things seem to have calmed down. LILITH has fired up some backup generators that are able to power the hospital and essential services, most of the fires have been contained, and the hospital has been able to get its patient load under control. LILITH has stepped in to further support the city, with their drones working hard to hand out supplies and provide medical aid. Restaurants continue to struggle, but nobody is starving, and LILITH is working hard to get the power back in operation.

On July 5th, there is a message from Captain Yamakawa:

“My Angels of LILITH. You may be at ease now. Our dedicated staff will take over from here. It’s been a difficult month for us all. To show appreciation for your efforts, we have organized a company trip to allow you the appropriate rest and relaxation. We do ask that you gather some supplies since food is short in Neo Tokyo, but that should be an easy task for our talented workforce. Please report to the data portals for departure at once."

Departure is set at 1100hrs, and Outsiders will be provided a water bottle and some sunscreen. Once they step through the data portal, they will be met with soft sand, the hot sun, and clear, beautiful waves - Welcome to Okinawa! Specifically, Outsiders will find themselves in Emerald Beach. While the water is pristine, the first thing Outsiders might notice is that there are unnaturally large coconut crabs all over the shoreline; with the majority of them the size of a large dog, and the largest of them about the size of a car.

Nearby to the beach, there are many abandoned fruit farms (such as watermelon, dragon fruits, mango and pineapples) that may have fresh produce for Outsiders to harvest. With how the rift changes the environment, some of these fruits have grown humongous in size. On top of that, the water appears to be cleaner than that found in Tokyo Bay. There are fish still swimming in it, and while some of these fish appear to have mutated, they do not appear inedible.

This is probably what Captain Yamakawa means by ‘supplies’.
█ █ █ MONSTER DEBRIEF SHEET
NAME: Coconut Crab
SIZE: 24 inches (size of a large dog) to about 5 meters (size of a car)
CLASS: Mild threat
LOCATION: Shoreline, ocean, forests
ABILITIES: Razor-sharp pincers with formidable gripping force - once it grips on to something, it is difficult to break free. Very hard shell that would take effort to crack.
WEAKNESS: Poor eyesight and hearing. Helpless if you tie them up. Becomes stunned with a knock to the head.
EXTRA NOTES: Apparently very delicious.

█ █ █ MISSION OBJECTIVE:
✖ Hunt and capture coconut crabs. Alive is preferable for the best quality meat.
✖ Harvest fresh fruit

▶ 005. THIS IS A VACATION WE PROMISE.

“Are they seriously making you guys work on your vacation?! This is why we can’t leave everything up to that stiff-ass commander. This should be our beach episode! Don’t worry, your daddy Seok Dang’s got you. Take a crab, take whatever you want, have a damn barbeque! Lie on the beach until your tan comes in. Get nude! Let’s get this party started!”
(LILITH would highly discourage anyone from actually taking off their clothes.)

Following Seok Dang’s message, outsiders will notice a pop-up appearing in their eyes, prompting them to accept an outfit upgrade. If accepted, they will find themselves in beach-appropriate attire (player’s choice) using LILITH’s Style Upgrade technology.

Despite Seok Dang’s bid for a party, Outsiders will have to make their own fun in this abandoned beach. They are free to do as they like, whether it’s having a swim, lying in the sand, playing a game of volleyball with an old ball that happens to be lying around, or cracking open a watermelon to share. He does try to encourage things along by sending a few gifts. Through the data portal, several drones will emerge and drop off portable grills, boomboxes, and alcohol from his private stash. For some reason he’s also unleashed a robot that is insistent on challenging Outsiders to a watermelon slicing competition. It looks like he’s serious about this beach episode …

Outsiders may travel between Okinawa and Neo Tokyo throughout the few days using the data portals. There are no resorts in operation in Okinawa, but should they choose to stay near the beach, they may set up a camp or sleep in an abandoned house or hotel.

▶ 006. AFTERWORD.

Welcome to our fifth TDM! All TDM threads are game canon; characters who don't app will be glitched out of this world. As TDM will act as the event, existing characters are heavily encouraged to participate. We encourage this format for top levels: CHARACTER | CANON | CURRENT / NEW CHARACTER. '

There are currently 13 available player slots. New players are welcome to use this TDM to get samples for when APPLICATIONS open.

None of the prompts suit your fancy? Feel free to check out our main base and locations page and make up your own prompts! (Note that Las Vegas is currently being rebuilt and will be made available to visit sometime next month.)

Use the code provided in the ARRIVAL prompt if you'd like to participate in the ice breaker and place it in your top level along with your other prompts. Anything such as civilian name or username can be marked as UNDECIDED if you're unsure of what you'd like your character to have for now. Though it says 'Orientation', existing characters can still participate in the ice-breaker.

For oldbies: for a job well done after the last kaiju mission, 250,000,000 KRYPTOS (~1700 USD) will be deposited into everyone's account. And to our kaiju MVPs: we haven't forgotten you! Those characters will get their due recognition next event. :)

Please note that all tags in this log will count for 2 reward points each and will count towards July AC.

TDM #5 BREAKDOWN/RECAP (CLICK TO EXPAND)
1. ARRIVAL PROMPT: Newcomers arrive with ocular and brain implants and told a breakdown of the premise with an icebreaker orientation to fill out. Their first cafeteria meal is food ration bars. Newcomers are placed in gray loungewear while they are being sorted into teams.

2. THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME: Senior Outsiders return from Las Vegas via the data portal and will experience side effects such as dizziness, nausea and headaches. Newer Outsiders are tasked with taking care of their senpai.

3. TOO HOT TO HANDLE: There is a heatwave and that's messed up the power grid, leading to a city-wide electricity ration. Hospitals are struggling, fires are breaking out and black outs are happening all over the city. Restaurants are struggling to store their food so there there is a shortage of fresh food. Outsiders are tasked with assisting the hospitals, containing any fires, distributing rations to citizens and assisting restaurants to salvage their supplies.

4. WELCOME TO OKINAWA: With the chaos in the city now under control, LILITH has sent all Outsiders on a vacation to a beach in Okinawa. The caveat is that they will need to gather food supplies. These supplies come in the form of a coconut crab kaiju, fresh fruit and fish.

5. THIS IS A VACATION WE PROMISE: Seok Dang is eager to get this beach party starter. He's updated the implants, allowing all Outsiders to swap into beach-appropriate attire using LILITH's Style Upgrade technology. He's airdropped portable grills, music players and alcohol for Outsiders to enjoy. There is also a robot challenging people to watermelon slicing competitions. Outsiders can do whatever they want to relax at the beach.

1.2 Cafeteria

[personal profile] sensehispresence 2024-07-06 12:55 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Coming out of a pod was interesting, as was the clothing they had pointed him toward. Even if he didn't see the use of that when he had the armor that slipped onto his skin. What good were clothes when one already had them? Or could form them over their body. Unfortunately, they insisted. Not that he allowed anyone to touch him. There would be no touching him. He would wear both their clothes and his own armor then, more to appease them than himself.

The sharp pain behind his eyes gets an almost animalistic growl out of him. It was the first time he had ever had pain behind his eyes. What exactly had they done? Though, he does notice the loading screen and is confused before the female voice reads what the screen is in his eyes is putting up.

Noting the barcode along his wrist has him curious. Not that he has ever had the need to eat. It does not, however, stop him from finding the cafeteria where he is handed a food ration bar. However, it does not get eaten. Nor does he trust the voice, Synthia, in his head.

Of course, that food ration bar is probably handed off to the nearest person to him. Whoever was close would have more use of it than himself as he has never eaten anything before. ]
blastedass: by bokunoicons @ tumblr (💥 Piss the fuck off!)

[personal profile] blastedass 2024-07-08 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
[Spending his time in the pod room lets him see a number of interesting (read: annoying) sights, from people clamoring out of pods like they're at risk of drowning to falling from them like a newborn fawn on the ground. And some that come out angry and aware, something he's guilty of from his first arrival here. Even to the point of attacking the orderly. Hence his presence here, to prevent something like that from happening again. Atonement? Hero duty? ... Maybe both.

Once the pods are all clear, he relocates to the cafeteria, not feeling the need to police the locker rooms where people are changing and getting their shit put together. Somewhat. Watching them mill around the larger room with little but a ration bar and water to go on is pretty damn sad, especially considering the relative meal he had on his first arrival. Army MRE's weren't the best, and the following two rounds of newcomers had actual food, but this?

He blinks when a food bar is passed off to him, catching it before the damn thing falls on the floor.]
Oy, you're gonna wanna eat this, bastard. I'm not dragging your unconscious body to your room.
sensehispresence: (Default)

[personal profile] sensehispresence 2024-07-08 09:44 am (UTC)(link)
[ Army MRE's were not something that Kadaj was familiar with. Then again, he had never taken time out for himself either. Where he was from it was all about finding Mother. There had been no time to relax or to sit down to eat. In fact, he had never truly eaten since him and his brothers came out to handle the problems of the world. Of dealing with big brother.

He raises a brow and cat-like green eyes look toward Bakugo. ]

I have no use for such things. Nor would you be dragging my body anywhere.

[ Did he need it? Truly need it? That was something he would find out soon enough. Even more so that his body has a chance to slow down. ]
blastedass: by bokunoicons @ tumblr (💥 Someone says something stupid.)

[personal profile] blastedass 2024-07-08 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
[None of this is known to him, so all Bakugo sees is some guy relatively fresh out of a pod refusing food that he's sorely going to need if he doesn't want a miserable night. Who the hell cares? The guy can fucking starve himself if he wants. So long as he's not wasting the food or making a ruckus about shit.

Weird eyes. Like a damn cat...]

No shit. I just said I wasn't.

[Does he wanna keep repeating the obvious?! Bakugo pockets the bar. It's not good, but it's better than going hungry. He'll give it to someone else who needs it if he doesn't eat it first.]

Don't bitch about being hungry later.
sensehispresence: (Default)

[personal profile] sensehispresence 2024-07-09 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
[ If he does need food then it's not something he's going to find out just yet. There had never been any need for it. Never been a time where he's slowed down to take care of himself. Everything had always been about the Reunion. ]

I won't. I have never had need for food before.

[ An admission, of sorts. Would he have need of it now? More than likely. Was he going to eat something like what he'd given to Bakugo if that were the case? No. If he did need to eat then it would be real food. Not something that tasted like sawdust. ]

Is the food always like that?

[ Made into bars. It was, after all, a valid question. ]
blastedass: by bokunoicons @ tumblr (💥 Unusually serious for him.)

[personal profile] blastedass 2024-07-09 06:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[Who knows if someone's lack of sustenance in their homeworld will carry over to this one. Bakugo's aware that immortality is rendered inert in this world and even powerful regeneration abilities are severely nerfed at the start. The latter can be slowly regained over time, but still comes with limitations, enough to make death a viable risk. Hell, most powers are diminished when arriving; Bakugo's Quirk was horribly weakened when he got here.

Anyways...]

Uh-huh. Don't expect this to be like "before" here.

[He doesn't know for sure, but that's a fair enough warning to this guy to consider the possibility. He might have to eat. Or hell, might even come to like eating. Who the fuck knows. Bakugo doesn't give a shit, right? Eating the ration bar isn't high on anyone's list. He gives a weird look at the other guy.]

What? Disgusting?

[Vague question too.]
sensehispresence: (Default)

[personal profile] sensehispresence 2024-07-10 09:23 am (UTC)(link)
[ If the lack of sustenance does carry over then Kadaj will find out in the worst way possible. Especially when he has never had the need of food back in the North Crater or anywhere in Gaia. ]

It is already different here.

[ The pain behind his eye says just as much. Though that was something he could easily ignore. Even if it was weird to have voices speak to him or words scroll through. That will be something for him to find out more about at a later time.

As for the warning, it was fair enough. ]

If that is what they are, then yes. Is the food always disgusting?

[ After all, he wouldn't know what real food even tasted like. ]
blastedass: by bokunoicons @ tumblr (💥 Everyone else looks like shit...)

[personal profile] blastedass 2024-07-10 03:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[Welcome to being mortal like the rest of the peons, Snake Face. Bakugo doesn't really care if this guy ends up eating or not, so long as he doesn't get teamed up with him and has to cover for his weakness over malnutrition or hunger.]

You don't have to point out the obvious!

[No one wants to waste the time on that! The issues with the implant and all the mess going on in Kadaj's head and in his eyes will fade away in time, leaving him able to turn it on or off. It's handy once you get used to it. And can forget about the invasive aspect...]

No. This crap focuses on sustenance, not taste. It's a ration.

[Used in times of emergency or shortage. Not the normal here.]
sensehispresence: (Default)

[personal profile] sensehispresence 2024-07-11 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
[ Being far more human than he already was... was going to be interesting. It meant that sleep would eventually catch up to him, as would hunger. Things that he has never experienced before.

Bakugo telling him not to point out the obvious has him raising a brow. He'd merely said that it was different now, nothing more than that. ]

So something in times of need?

[ Kadaj merely wanted to make sure he had his facts straight. ]
blastedass: by bokunoicons @ tumblr (💥 Piss the fuck off!)

[personal profile] blastedass 2024-07-11 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
[Who knows if Bakugo'll be around to witness that happen. Seeing Kadaj suddenly go narcoleptic on him, or reluctantly grab one of those ration bars. Odds are he won't reach that state before finding some other sustenance to buy.

He already knew it was different! Who the hell would consider this world the same as the one they came from?! Ugh. Something about this guy pisses him off without trying.]

There's a food and electricity shortage right now.

[Though they haven't been informed of why outside of the sudden heatwave.]
sensehispresence: (Default)

[personal profile] sensehispresence 2024-07-11 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
[ One way or another he will figure out that he needs sustenance. Until then, he's perfectly fine as he is. If he does get hungry then he will actively get a ration and eat it, even if the taste will be little to be desired.

Those cat-like green eyes look toward the other. ]

Do we know why there is a shortage?

[ Did this place run on something other than electricity? ]
blastedass: by blastedass @ dreamwidth (Default)

[personal profile] blastedass 2024-07-11 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
[Then he gets to experience the joys and horrors of the element that is food. What if he shows up at the crab beach fest later? Probably won't be hungry enough by then to indulge. Poor Kadaj. He'll miss out.]

The heatwave fucked up some of the city's power generators. Food that needs refrigeration's going bad.

[As for whether the city ran on something other than electricity... difficult (but good) question Bakugo can't answer.]
sensehispresence: (Default)

[personal profile] sensehispresence 2024-07-11 05:26 am (UTC)(link)
[ If there was such a thing that happened later then he might try it, out of curiosity. After all, curiosity can be a very powerful motivator. It might even get someone hooked on the food provided. Though there is also the chance of missing out too. ]

So now we wait.

[ Is there no one that can fix it themselves? Or help the city regain power from the heatwave. ]

Is there anything one can do here?

[ To help or in general. ]
blastedass: by blastedass @ dreamwidth (💥 Thug life.)

[personal profile] blastedass 2024-07-12 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
[Hunger's pretty powerful a motivator too. Bakugo's content to leave the guy as is and not bother with it. Food can be dealt with later. Though he is new, so... tch, LILITH will get on his damn case if he doesn't at least stick around long enough to make sure the noob's not gonna get himself wrecked by something.]

Yeah. Reports say it'll be stabilized in a few days.

[There are plenty of people already attempting to fix it, but Neo Tokyo's power comes from multiple areas and stations, so if all of them are on the fritz, intermittently, it can take a while to whack all the proverbial moles.]

You wanna fight fires, help at a hospital, or work in a restaurant?

[Your options, Snake Eyes.]
sensehispresence: (Default)

[personal profile] sensehispresence 2024-07-12 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
[ There were many motivators when one never experienced something before. Food would come sooner or later. Right now? He was perfectly fine and didn't need the sustenance, even if he should experience it. ]

Then we wait.

[ There was nothing more that they could do. Not if the power was out for an undetermined amount of time. The options given were interesting and nothing he had done before. He fights or drives motorcycles through the city. That was before showing up in this place. ]

Show me the fires and I'll fight them.
blastedass: by blastedass @ dreamwidth (💥 No.)

[personal profile] blastedass 2024-07-13 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
[Bakugo's accepted that fact and isn't suggesting the other guy eat or clean or move or whatever the fuck the new Outsiders usually would be doing after they freshened up in the locker rooms and ate in the cafeteria. If this newb wants to jump headfirst into Outsider duties, who the fuck's he to stop him?]

Take your pick.

[The blonde taps the side of his head, indicating Kadaj should use the ocular newly-implanted there. If he doesn't know how, Bakugo sends him a message with a few news reports indicating fire breakouts. One in a park's small woods, another in an abandoned hotel, and another starting up in a junkyard.

They're all within a 30 mile radius.]
sensehispresence: (Default)

[personal profile] sensehispresence 2024-07-16 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
[ Kadaj, for the most part, doesn't know what one would do after they've freshened up. Why would he? This was all new to him. He would rather go headfirst into something than to stop long enough to take care of himself, or rest. Resting would come later... maybe. ]

Everything is done by that, I see.

[ Very well. If he had to use it then he would. As for the reports and breakouts, he nods. ]

I will head in that direction then.

[ He did not have his motorcycle but he could get around just fine on foot. ]
blastedass: by bokunoicons @ tumblr (💥 On a mission to hunt you down.)

[personal profile] blastedass 2024-07-16 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
[Bakugo isn't going to coach him through life here. There's a lot to get the head around for any newcomer. Perhaps it's better to simply throw oneself into a task and process everything afterwards. He turns his back on Kadaj and heads towards the cafeteria exit, expecting the other guy to follow him.]

Yeah, so don't try to rip it out.

[As some people have considered doing. It is possible, but trying to live in the city while being off the proverbial grid is a real shit existence. You can't even get into the base, to say nothing of your own room, without the implant.]

C'mon. Unless you wanna fucking walk.
sensehispresence: (Default)

[personal profile] sensehispresence 2024-07-16 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
[ Kadaj would figure out how to work around the world, as a whole. Well... this new world at the very least. Heading into something headfirst would do him a bit of good too. So, he does turn to follow Bakugo out of the cafeteria. ]

I would not do so.

[ Not when it would cause himself pain. Something that he did not wish to do. Yes, it would be annoying to have it but he would survive it. ]

I am following you.

[ He was not that far from the other. ]
blastedass: by blastedass @ dreamwidth (Default)

[personal profile] blastedass 2024-07-16 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
[Bakugo rolls his eyes at the almost robotic response. What the hell is this guy, some kinda damn parrot or a slinky android? He doesn't respond, only walks through the halls and finally out the front doors of the massive dorms into the base parking lot proper. Most of the Outsiders keep their vehicles, if they have any, in the garage here or nearby. Bakugo owns a car and a motorcycle, but he's not using his personal vehicles for this; he's heading towards a properly-colored police vehicle.

There's no real use for a key, operated via the ocular if wanted, but he uses one regardless, preferring the two-part security of key + digital scan to unlock the door and open the vehicle.]

Go around and get in the passenger side. [As tempting as it is to put him in the back...]
sensehispresence: (Default)

[personal profile] sensehispresence 2024-07-16 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
[ All of this? It would be easier if Loz and Yazoo were around. Though, if someone called him an android he'd laugh at them. He was, after all, a little insane. Not that he was insane of his own accord.

Vehicles were not foreign to him. Well... some vehicles were not. Unfortunately, the police vehicle was. It wasn't like he'd ever been anywhere near one before. Why would he have? Shinra's helicopters, his motorcycle, and Cloud's... those he had been around.

He slips into the passenger seat before letting himself take in the interior of it, noting the cage that separated cop from prisoner. ]

You must have an important role here.

[ After all, he doesn't know a thing about police cars. However, if a cage separated a human from someone else then they had to be important. Right? ]
blastedass: by blastedass @ dreamwidth (💥 Yeah that'll fucking suck.)

[personal profile] blastedass 2024-07-16 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
[It'd be easier on many people if they had people from their own world around. But many of them only have a few to none and simply have to get by with that. The vehicles in Neo Tokyo range from strong wheeled constructs to high tech hover crafts, with personal transports like motorcycles and hoverboards also available, provided you don't want to carpool or use public transport.

Of course, law enforcement and emergency vehicles are also around. This place is attacked by kaiju frequently. Once Kadaj is inside, Bakugo barks at him to put his seatbelt on as he starts the vehicle with a combination of key insert and a mental connect to the computer inside, tuned to his ocular signal.]

I'm a police officer. Law enforcement. [Whatever Kadaj calls that kind of thing in his world. He notices the way the guy looks at the barricade.] Criminals go back there.

[ Things would be easier if the youngest Remnant had his brothers around. Or even that voice he was so used to having in his head. It was weird not having Sephiroth's voice inside his head anymore. Everything was so... quiet. Something he would never be used to.

Where he was from he'd never seen hover vehicles or emergency vehicles. Everything was motorcycles (his or Cloud's) and Shinra's helicopters. He'd never truly paid any attention to any other vehicle, if there had truly been any around. Though hover vehicles would be the most intriguing to him.

Seatbelt? Sure, he'd put it on. Even if he saw no use for it. ]

How many do you run into here?

[ Criminals, that was. ]

[Don't worry, Kadaj. There will be other voices in your head soon enough. Whether it's Synthia giving LILITH-related announcements to other Outsiders messaging him and talking on the mental "phone" that exists now. Takes some getting used to, but at least the communication hands free is a boon more often than not.

Bakugo opted to go for vehicles as his rewards rather than the upgrades, implants, and weapons so many others have opted to get. He has issues with the initial two... but he's working on that, having brought it up to LILITH enough to get some actual effort put into it. The details and work are still ongoing at least. Anyways, his patrol car isn't his personal vehicle. That one's elsewhere in the garage.

Seatbelt. Once clicked in, Bakugo cruises out of the lot and onto the street proper.]

More than I want to see. A lot of people like to take advantage of disaster.

[ Any voice was better than Sephiroth's. Not that he liked the idea of having anyone in his head. However, it would be nothing like being able to sense his creator. Something that he would get used to in time. Just as he would get used to having messages come across the ocular implant.

This? It would be the first time that Kadaj has ever used a seatbelt. It wasn't like he had any use for it back home. Much less with the motorcycle that he'd had. ]

They take advantage because focus is elsewhere?

[ It was more of a rhetorical question than an actual one. ]
