CONTENT WARNINGS: body modification (new arrivals); animal trafficking; genetically modified animals.

▶ 001. ARRIVAL / CAFETERIA. (NEO TOKYO BASE).

It happens in the blink of an eye, a dash of time – you're taken from where you were. What you were doing... it isn't important any more, and slowly, you give up the desire of your normal life. When you awaken, figures are looking down on you from a surgical table.

"Yeah, this one will do. Let's take them to the rest." That's all you see before losing consciousness again, only to wake up in a pod with many others.

"Your questions will be answered soon enough, as I'm sure you will have many," a female, robotic voice says.

Just then, you regain consciousness in a pool of stasis liquid along with many others. You realize you are underground. Your new life is about to begin... whether you like it or not.

Welcome to Neo Tokyo. Pods drain their stasis fluid, which wakes each Outsider and they emerge from their pod in only undergarments. Directed to a locker room in the medical bay, they find a towel to dry off with and a set of gray loungewear to wear as LILITH makes the final decision in assigning the Outsiders to their rightful teams. If a character has any accessibility needs, they will be found here.

It's around this time they will feel a sharp pain at the back of their eyes, almost like there’s a foreign body lodged on the inside of their head. This pain will subside quickly as their body adapts to the changes, but there will always be a sensation of something being not quite right; that their bodies have been changed forever. It might take some getting used to, but over time the sensation will become familiar. In the stasis pods, all Outsiders have been surgically fitted with ocular and brain implants that will enable them to communicate with LILITH and the rest of the crew, as well as providing them the information they require. Almost like a computer screen has been loaded into their brains, they will see a loading screen as the implant completes its download.

A questionnaire will then pop up, waiting for their answer. A voice, robotic and feminine, will also read along in their brain for them.

Outsiders will receive a quick debrief about their situation: they will be told that the year is 2279, and they have been taken to Neo Tokyo, one of the last bastions of mankind in a world terrorized by various Kaiju and monsters. Only a third of the population remains, and LILITH has gathered talented people from other dimensions here as a last ditch effort to save humanity. Outsiders are free to continue asking LILITH questions through their implant, but there’s no guarantee that they will provide them with a straight answer.

Outsiders will also notice an implant in their dominant wrist. This implant has a barcode in it that will enable them to purchase goods from the local stores in Neo Tokyo. They will receive a starting balance of 15,000 KRYPTOS (about USD 100), which is barely enough for a few good meals, groceries, and supplies. They can view their current balance through a hologram window projected by their ocular implant.

In the cafeteria area, food is being served. The kitchen can be seen, and a few robots are busy stirring pots and preparing the dishes. The current offerings are mostly vegan and vegetarian dishes, with a range of curries, rice and simple noodles. As most robotic staff have been directed to finish rebuilding parts of the base, Outsiders will also be encouraged to make their own food. Finding your own ingredients might be trickier, however, especially with the dubious nature of the meats.

"Greetings, my name is SYNTHIA and I will be taking care of you today. Worry not, my children. You are in safe hands."

▶ 002. FOLLOW THE RABBIT.

With the arrival of new allies and the return of experienced members from abroad, everyone is allowed some time to relax and settle in. The temperature outside cools down and offers everyone a break from the suffocating heat of summer. There is still some time before the official first day of the autumn season but that isn't going to stop Neo Tokyo from ditching summer. It's time to bring out the sweaters and get some artificially flavored pumpkin spice!

In particular, the city is preparing for the Autumn Equinox at the beginning of the month. Cafes and restaurants begin to launch seasonal items meant to evoke the image of the full moon like sugar cookies, egg sandwiches, dango filled with custard, and more. Meanwhile, department stores sell goods with full moon and rabbit motifs. These are all rare and exclusive treats that citizens look forward to every year.

If you look at the bright neon adverts of the city, you might suddenly see a pixelated white rabbit appear. It jumps from advertisement to advertisement. Sometimes the white rabbit even leaves the advertisements to hop across the holographic graffiti in the city. According to local urban legend, if you can follow the white rabbit long enough, it will take you to the moon and you'll learn a secret about the world. Others say the white rabbit is the AI assistant of an eccentric billionaire and if you follow the white rabbit, you'll win a million KRYPTOS. More jaded commenters on the net think it's just a publicity stunt for hacker artists.

Whatever the truth is, the city is gripped by rabbit mania and everyone is trying to chase the rabbit to learn what it is. News outlets, public officials, and even LILITH begin to issue statements about it. They warn people not to follow the white rabbit into dangerous places and advise against following suspicious bots.

If you decide to follow the white rabbit, it will lead you on a chase until the night of the first full moon. It will eventually lead you to a quiet, scenic place in the city like the top of a building or a park. You will receive a message from MOON_RABBIT.AI with an attachment link. Clicking on it will automatically download an accessory upgrade. All characters will receive a bunny ear headband. The message simply says, "Look at the beautiful moon. 🌕🐇"

No secrets are revealed, no money is found, and no coupons are earned. Maybe the real moon rabbit is the friends you made along the way. Enjoy the view!

▶ 003. CUSTOMS CAN'T STOP ME.

The Outsiders were not the only things to arrive in Neo Tokyo on the return from Mexico City. LILITH has been given some intel from their sources across the city that a significant number of animals were smuggled into the city by various sources, and the black market (which might be familiar to some Outsiders) is rife with the creatures. The mission is simple: infiltrate the market once more and find the source of the smuggling. The exotic pet market is developing, and LILITH wants it stopped.

Things are a little more complicated than they have been in the past, however. Previous adventures into the market had found Outsiders chasing down kaiju and small animals that had been smuggled here and there and attempting to apprehend the criminals, but this time it is a mixture of the smaller kaiju from Mexico and some kind of genetically modified hybrid animals alongside them. Where these strange hybrids came from is unknown, but they look more grotesque and dangerous than their kaiju counterparts.

While the pet market had been filled with animals that were far less dangerous before, this time the creatures are on the more deadly side: wildcats and large birds that are angry at their captivity and prepared to lash out at whoever comes close, no matter who they might be. They don’t understand the difference between captor and savior, so it might be tricky to catch them without gaining yourself a few scars for it.

There’s also the risk of getting involved in a deal; funnily enough, smugglers don’t take too kindly to being found out, and the people buying aren’t interested in being caught. It can be hard to track down where the deals are being made and to intercept them, but LILITH will be glad to hear of anyone who is prevented from taking part in this shady business. LILITH will be doubly pleased with Outsiders who are able to find the source of the smuggling ring and report back to the with their findings.

As before, Outsiders can find a range of different services in the markets: recreational drugs, performance-enhancing nanobots, assorted weapons (some legal and some not), unlabelled meats, the … services of suspicious people, and terrifying amount of junk.

▶ 004. SIMULATION: KAIJUMANJI.

It's an ordinary day when the Outsiders are called in for regular training. Those who choose to arrive early will get to head into the room and mingle with each other. Once everyone has arrived, the room will light up and everyone will find themselves wearing the LILITH plugsuits and have options to download their personal inventory or borrow weapons from LILITH's weapons database. They will also be sorted into teams of various sizes.

"Who is ready for something different? Can I get a HELL YEAH? Trust me, you guys are just gonna love this, but I also gotta ask.. WANNA PLAY A GAME?"

The room begins to whirr as the system boots up. Usually, this would be the part where the entire room takes on the appearance and sounds of a new environment. Instead, the room maintains the same appearance. One might almost think the simulation hasn't started but the sound of music from the speakers hints that something is going on.

Each team will suddenly receive a virtual "map" and a die. The virtual "map" will have markers with their names at the starting point. Given how the "map" looks and the die, it's obvious this is some sort of board game they are all expected to play. Each player must take turns rolling the die and moving ahead on the board. Most of the spaces have an effect of some sort. Upon landing on an effect tile, an event will happen. While each team has a map, some teams may have alternate versions with different kaiju and events.

The game starts in the simulation room and everyone will be free to move around throughout the virtual base and Neo Tokyo as they play. If the game becomes too much, they can try to log out of the simulation but it won't work. Instead, they'll receive an error message and an ominous explanation. The game will continue until someone reaches the end and yells, "Kaijumanji"!

After someone reaches the end, the simulation (and music) will end and they will find themselves in the simulation room.

▶ 005. TOUCH GRASS.

As with all simulations, the effects feel real so everyone can feel like they are being hurt or subjected to whatever elements occur. However, all effects should end with the simulation. It appears that the new software is a little too realistic and many Outsiders are left feeling a phantom pain called "simulated pain." Though they are physically unharmed, they still feel as though they were injured and experience pain, poison effects, or difficulty using their powers or equipment.

They will be taken to the Medical Bay to receive care. Since there is nothing physically wrong with them, the staff and Nurse Robots focus on treating the symptoms the best they can. Depending on the situation, some people may receive real medication while others receive placebos to help trick the mind into recovering. While they are being treated, they will run system diagnostics and try to debug their brain implants. It is a slow process given the sensitive nature of the issue. Unfortunately, debugging will only do so much while they are cooped up in the med bay.

The best way to cure simulated pain is to get out and experience the real world. So while it may be difficult, Outsiders will be asked to mingle around the base and go out into the city to eat a real meal and touch real grass. Holding hands also seems to produce effects similar to healing touch even if the other person does not have the upgrade. By feeling something real, the mind can recalibrate and debug itself.

Everyone recovers at different rates but over time, the simulated pain will pass and they will feel normal again. Finally, they will be advised to avoid going into the simulation room and anything related to virtual reality for about a week after recovery or else they might trigger another bout of simulated pain.

EVENT BREAKDOWN/RECAP (CLICK TO EXPAND)

1. ARRIVAL / CAFETERIA. (TOKYO BASE): Newcomers arrive with ocular and brain implants, and are given a breakdown of the premise with an icebreaker orientation to complete. They will arrive in Neo Tokyo.

2. FOLLOW THE RABBIT: During the Autumn Equinox, a white rabbit can be found that Outsiders are able to chase. According to legend, you can learn a secret or money. Successfully finding the rabbit does not result in a reward beyond friendship.

3. CUSTOMS CAN'T STOP ME: The animal/kaiju trafficking has resurfaced after returning from Mexico and Outsiders are tasked with finding the creatures and the smugglers. There are various black market services Outsiders can "indulge" in if they wish.

4. SIMULATION: KAIJUMANJI: A new simulation has been set up in the SimRoom; a training program set up as a virtual map with dice rolls and events based on where they move. Escaping the room requires getting to the end and shouting the name of the game.

5. TOUCH GRASS: Consequences of the Simulation Room can be dire; phantom pain and poison effects. The best cure is to go out into nature and see the real world, eat real food and enjoy living. Eventually, the pain passes.

[ In the cafeteria, Sheryl shouts with full-throated (and wow, does this woman have pipes) surprise, alarm, and self-righteous fury. She rubs at her eyes like she wants to blink the automated questionnaire away, and when it refuses to disappear, her hands ball into fists in visible frustration. Sheryl knows that implants can be useful day-to-day, but they’re also incredibly dangerous, can be used to take over people’s minds like that brother of Ranka’s. She just helped stop Grace and Galaxy from forcibly implanting and enslaving all of humanity.

And speaking of Grace and Galaxy…. the thought of home also brings up a concern that is more petty, less existential, but also pretty close to Sheryl’s heart. Her eyes go very wide, and she shrieks, this time less with self-righteous alarm than the flustered panic of someone who’s just had a terrible haircut or torn a beloved dress. Having risen to fame as one of the few non-augmented people on a fleet of cyborgs, Sheryl is briefly if irrationally upset that — ]

[ Bunnies? What a happy coincidence, Sheryl will ride the bunny hype train straight to the damn top.

In her first few days, Sheryl is hustling everywhere, running guerrilla concerts on street corners, shopping centers, clubs, and more. At the beginning, this usually ends in getting run off by, or into a shouting match, with the proprietor. But after a few performances, Sheryl realizes that running off actually fits the bunny lore, and starts doing dramatic disappearances in the middle of her own mini-concerts.

So on any given day Sheryl is on a street corner (in a shopping center, in a club, etc., dealer’s choice!) with bunny ears on her head, scattering a handful of discs with a link to her socials – so retro for Neo Tokyo, Sheryl knows her charm points – and bursting into song. Without an entire holographic suite behind her, the visuals aren’t quite as impressive as they should be, and the costume flip from white to black is mostly a matter of pulling an enveloping white dress on and off over a black tank and shorts. But she makes up for it by fully committing to the bit, each and every time she sings. This song is full-force pop, all energy and confidence, complete with a well-rehearsed dance. Hey, she’s got the choreo down, of course she’ll recycle it here! ]

[ as far as wake-ups went, this last one just happened to be particularly shitty, but not necessarily the worst. like, ok, his sick pajamas were gone, but the slime, dude. the slime, the pods, the godawful medical lighting, the weird nondescript medical staff spinning out their spiels like they were trying to sell him something? awful. just terrible. only thing that came close to making that whole rigamarole endurable was when he popped his rad jammies out one towel-down later. the looks on the med team's face? priceless.

002. rabbitses

a) streetside

[ tokyo is a completely different world, which is a given now as it would have been way back in the day when dave's world wasn't... whatever it was. neo-tokyo in all its grandeur makes everything he's seen until now look almost dull in comparison. simple, hackneyed, outdated. neon signs light up the nights, but so too do futuristic holograms and eye-searing LEDs, everything moving and flickering fit to give a guy a headache. it might have even worked, but the shades, man. it's all in the shades. nothing pierces these hollywood-certified aviators. nothing.

but that's neither here nor there. what is here is a rabbit, flitting into view just briefly overhead before zipping out of sight again. that little rapscallion. dave's onto him now.

so into his little hunt is dave that he's lost track of the time (hah). the night is deepening, the sky growing ever darker as the city wakes up around him, uncaring of this lanky kid in rad red pajamas wandering the streets mumbling to himself. mumbling and mumbling. what's his deal? ]

002; WHITE RABBIT

A; [ You'd never guess she'd seen things like this before: bright neon lights, holograms dancing out of their billboards above the crowds, leaping from perch to perch. But the rabbit has caught her eye, and Aerith finds herself stopping to watch it each time it moves, even if she's in the middle of the sidewalk. The rabbit isn't the only thing that's caught her eye, though. Inside a small cafe, she can be seen poring over the display case of pastry, truly torn about which treat to try. Maybe the mont blanc? Or perhaps the sugar cookie decorate to look like a cute little ghost? She should probably hurry, since she's kind of holding up the line. ]

B; [ The moon hangs particularly large in the sky, deep orange over the Neo Tokyo skyline, and the rabbit is back out, leaping from picture to picture. She's heard the rumor by now: follow the rabbit, gain the secrets of the world.

She can't commune with this planet. She's tried, ever since her arrival. But it lays dormant to her, even though she knows it's hurting, and she finds herself adrift without the comforting presence of the Lifestream. Is it wishful thinking to hope the rabbit may take her to where she can commune? Maybe. But her life has been one wishful thought after another (though she lost count after twenty-three), and when the rabbit darts down a side road, Aerith follows, unconcerned that it might be taking her somewhere dangerous. She can handle herself.

The path narrows and darkens, the rabbit jumping from piece to piece before Aerith, speeding up as it nears it's destination. If there's footsteps behind her, she can't hear them and she wouldn't heed them even if she could. She wants to know — needs to.

She stops short when the path flings itself wide open into a lush garden illuminated by the bright moonlight hanging in the sky. The rabbit is nowhere to be seen, and while Aerith knew it would likely end with no answers, she can't help the small prick of disappointment in her chest. Still, the area is gorgeous and she steps further in, brushing her fingers over the flowers, the leaves. It reminds her of the church — a bright spot of green tucked away amidst the dusty grey of the city around it. There's a small clear area among the greenery and Aerith settles down on the ground, tucking her legs up at her side and closing her eyes. She tries again to reach out to the planet.

Still nothing.

Opening her eyes, she reaches for the nearest flower, a chrysanthemum by the look, and she brushes its petals with the tip of her finger. ]

[ The natural place for her, other than the garden, is the med bay. She has the power to heal, and while she's not very good at healing natural sickness, she can still help mend broken bones and relieve the pain from bruises and sprains. But lately they've been getting people into the beds that can't be helped by her magic. Pains and aches that won't go away, even with pointed medication. She knows her magic is working — she can feel the energy leaving her body as she summons the magic from her materia — but her patients still claim hurt.

She's almost desperate enough to use her own magic, but she has no connection to this planet; she doesn't even know if it'll work. So when the orders come down that the best way to assist is to, well, go outside, Aerith takes charge. She starts pushing people towards the doors — little shoves, nothing meant to exacerbate any pain they might already have. It's clear she is not taking no for an answer. ]

[ Infiltration is something that Kadaj has no problem doing. Even if he's never been to the black market within Neo Tokyo. If he has? Then he's forgotten about it. Or it was back when he was still learning about himself. It was one of those two things.

LILITH wanted information. Wanted them to check out the exotic pet market and stop whoever was smuggling in animals. It would, honestly, take a little bit before they found the culprit. The young remnant isn't silly enough to get too close to the cages. That didn't mean one of the animals couldn't reach out for him or whomever his companion nearby was.

He wouldn't be surprised if someone tried to grab a hold of him, for his eyes alone. He wasn't going to allow that, but it doesn't mean it couldn't happen. ]

[Wandering through seedy areas is nothing strange or new for Johnny. It was always part of the life, part of the curse he'd found himself saddled with. The Other Guy is likely to come out to play eventually. But not at the moment. For now it was Johnny Blaze in control as he rode from back alley deal to quiet dockyards and shipping containers.

Eventually, he'll find himself peaking around the corner of a wooden crate to watch as cages filled with... well, what looked to be animals are loaded into the backs of trucks. The Other Guy feels itchy, he can feel the pain, anger, and resentment from the creatures. But it isn't enough for him to claw himself out of Johnny.

001. ARRIVAL-A

[There's a strange sight in the cafeteria. Sitting at a table alone is a young man (?) surrounded by plates and bowls of food that are getting quickly emptied. The person in question has porcelain white hair and skin, and bright blue eyes with no pupils to be seen. Two short horns the same brilliant blue jut out from the top of his forehead, about 6 inches long. His hair is shaggy, and he's quit underweight-looking for his 6-foot-tall frame, which probably explains why he's shoveling down any and all food the robots bring him like there's no tomorrow. Glimpses of pointed, fang-like teeth can be seen between tearing bites of kaiju meat, something he's not even aware of it being. If you approach, he shoots you a look that could peel paint off the walls.

But what can you do? All other tables are full, and the only empty seats available in the busy cafeteria are with this weirdo.]

002. CHASE THE WHITE RABBIT

[Going after the rabbit seems pretty dumb, but Johnny figures it's a good way to acquaint himself with his new city and also this crazy technology. So off he goes, having to use cloaking technology to make him blend in as a normal human. He sure has Some Thoughts about that, but he'll deal with that later. For now, he looks like himself if he has a normal fair skin tone, green eyes and black hair. Not to mention normal human teeth.

If you're up on a rooftop deck overlooking the city, someone has just caught up with the rabbit there himself. It's a lovely view of Neo Tokyo, complete with sunset in the quickly-cooling evening. For a moment, Johnny looks excited that he actually managed to catch up with the holographic critter, only for his reward to be... bunny ears.]

He mostly skulks along behind you, hands in pockets, eyes keenly watching his surroundings. At least he's used to hanging out in seedier places and knows to watch their backs. As you're trying to negotiate with a black market vendor and not getting very far, Johnny is quickly losing his patience. He looks at the chimeric critter stuffed into a small cage and feels a pang of sympathy for the poor thing. Exploited and treated poorly just because it's different.

[Okay, a MILLION kryptos? Now that's got Yato's attention! Given he's hot off the heels of an expensive wedding, he could use that kind of cash despite now having a solid, steady day job. So once he hears the tales of fortune and mystery being at the end of the rabbit run, he takes it upon himself to start tracking the little bugger. Using his godly abilities to jump, float, and catwalk across narrow paths, he traces the pixelated creature into some dark alleyways where unscrupulous types linger.

[After returning from Mexico City, Raidou had a lot of time to think on the trip home. During this past mission, not only did he succumb to the effects of the pollen several times, falling to uncontrolled emotions and desires, but he even missed his only shot on the kaiju. Everyone's been telling him to take it easier, to reprioritize, but it's obvious to him that he's been slacking off far too much. Not just the effect of the kaiju in Mexico, but those in the Nevada desert and the Romanian forest also took control of his mind and his emotions, and he did things he regretting or caused him to act erratically.

Clearly, this is the sign of a weakened mind and body. Once everyone has returned, Raidou will be doubling down on his training regimens. He will be in the sim room almost exclusively, working on not just his sword work, but his martial arts skills, and trying to hone his reflexes to a point even sharper than they already are. When not in the sim room, you might find him in a lone room meant for mediation, eyes closed and deep into it.

Would you like to join him for sword or fight training? He'd be glad to have you as an opponent. Or maybe you want to try and convince him into taking a break. Good luck with that. [LILITH is very used to seeing this kid in the med bay. Not just for injuries, but for regular wellness checks to make sure he'd healthy and that his nanotech is running smoothly. Electrocute yourself like half a dozen times a year ago while fighting kaiju, and LILITH gets a little touchy about your reckless attitude towards personal safety.

They're not surprised to see him show back up, what with the overload of training he's been doing the last week or two. The phantom pain he's expressing, though, is definitely new. He shouldn't be suffering so much when he has nanotech upgrades that should shield him from the worst of injuries. It's pretty upsetting for him to hear that he's not allowed back in the sim for at least a week, but he tends to follow orders, and relents. Off he goes to the outside world, to find a park and maybe something to eat.

It's not easy to get there, but he can be found lying underneath a tree along a riverway, with uneaten takeout in a bag next to him. He'll get to it eventually, if some of this ache manages to let up. Feel free to join him, or maybe lecture him while he can't walk off.]

#002: BunNYA Rabbit

[ One tortured victim of the Autumn Equinox is this guy right here, who works part-time in one of the cafes of Neo Tokyo. A cat cafe, specifically, with a manager beyond excited to lean into the rabbit theming. Kaga's left arm has been replaced with a black metal prosthetic and one side of her face is covered in wrappings, hiding her empty eye socket from view. She's still very... Kaga, though. ]

Hikaru leans back against a low wall, the paper cup warm between his hands. Steam curls from the lid, carrying a smell that is sweet but chemical, the kind of thing you know is not real. Pumpkin spice. Just a lab mix poured into equally lab made milk and sugar, but for him it feels like more than that. Something he never would considered back home, not once and yet saw everywhere here.

He takes a sip, tongue brushing his teeth after like he is still trying to place it. Too sweet, kinda fake in the ways he can recognize for some ingredients, but not bad. He tips the cup toward a person nearby, a half grin pulling at his mouth.

The city is loud with rabbit talk. Fortunes, secrets, prizes. Nobody really agrees on what it means. Cafes are packed with moon cookies and dango, shops are draped in rabbit prints, and now the thing itself is hopping through pixels like it owns the place. Hikaru shifts his body toward it, watching it jump again.

CUSTOMS CAN'T STOP ME

Hikaru shifts his weight as they walk, eyes scanning the stalls stacked with junk and strangers. Voices cut through the air, sharp, clipped, full of deals he does not understand. Nanobots, unmarked meat, weapons with tags that look more like warnings than prices. He scratches at his jaw, trying not to stare too hard at the cages tucked under tarps. Things that make aggressive noises that he's never heard and can't see beneath them.

It is obvious from the way his eyes move that he has never stepped into a place like this. No idea how close danger actually sits, how many looks they will get if they hang around too long. He keeps his voice low, leaning closer like he is in on some kind of secret. "Never seen a market like this. Looks more like a festival with teeth."

His remarks come from a place of imagination at what he's seeing around him. "So... we just pick one out after, yeah?" His tone is casual, like he is talking about groceries instead of a mission. "One of them animals. Big cat, or maybe somethin' smaller. Somethin' we can bring back?" Hikaru doesn't pay mind that the animals aren't just hissing because of their entrapment, that a lot of them are hissing at him specifically.

▶ 002. FOLLOW THE RABBIT.

[ The change from summer to fall is a little sad for Yuji, who has thrown himself into the sunshine with all the joy and excitement of his teenage years. There's no hesitation in him when it comes to all the new food, though, doing his best to reingite his appetite after a few months of recovery. It's easy enough to do hen all the sweet treats are on offer, and you might be able to find him sitting cross-legged somewhere, a handful of snacks out in front of him.

There's the expected egg sandwiches, and he seems pretty possessive of those, but the rest - the cookies the dango, the candies - he is more than willing to share with anyone who sits down with him, passing them over with a bright smile and very little hesitation. He's just glad to have someone to hang out with!

Later, peering at the rabbits, he gets really excited for some reason, rocking on his heels as he watches the creature leap from poster to poster, eyes chasing it as it goes. ]

I gotta tell Megumi about this.

[ Training is fine with Yuji, and getting to play a game while he does it has the benefit of being extra entertaining, and he's prepared to throw himself into it without any hesitation. He knows he'd probably make a good partner, so he hangs around outside the room, glancing at people to see if anyone wants to pair up. ]

Once inside, Yuji is a very different beast.

There's a novelty to it, but he throws himself into the games without pause. Having been here for a long stretch of time, Yuji's well aquainted with the kaiju that the Outsiders have fought in the past, and he mostly remembers how to deal with them. The thing he's less good at is the randomness of the game itself, considering how tragically unlucky he seems to be, wilting completely.

He looks particularly morose about it. ]

▶ 004. TOUCH GRASS.

[ Thankfully, he doesn't deal with a significant amount of the after-effects of taking part in the Simulation, but that doesn't stop him from going around and making sure that other people are alright. It's hardly the first time that there have been weird side effects to taking part in LILITH activities, but...

When people are done in the Med Bay, Yuji is there to take them around the parks in Neo Tokyo and get them outside, bringing snacks and urging them to the best local places that are serving hearty noodle dishes and great desserts. He's also more than happy to offer his hand, a bright smile on his face. ]

I have the healing upgrade too, so that could help!

He hates it too and maybe that's why he can't bring himself to look at any of these creatures in the eye. They're pitiful, angry, miserable monsters that never asked for this kind of life and maybe he relates to that a little more than he would like.

💥 ➊ RABBIT. - Autumn Cafe

[No surprise the Autumn Equinox is a rising thing here. Still Japan, even if in a new world. Bakugo despises the cold weather, but even he's grateful for a reprieve from summer's oppressive sweltering heat. This is the guy who wears all black for casual downtime garb. Not so at the moment. A white overshirt hangs open on a green camo-patterned shirt, not bothered to tuck into a pair of tan cargo pants. Gentle clinks of spoons in glasses create a strange fading wind-chime effect through the quiet cafe, occasionally augmented by the rustle of papers or tack of fingers across books and computers respectively. Even with the advent and use of oculars, some places prefer sticking with nostalgia.

Bakugo flips the page, red eyes scanning over another chunk of text, his other hand flicking a pen around his thumb in rhythmic absent minded circles. Lost in thought for a moment. Normally he prefers studying in his room, but occasionally comes to quiet places like the cafe. Snagging a note, he clicks the pen back and jots down words and numbers in the notebook beside him. A cup of hot tea and a sandwich on a plate sit nearby, still steaming and currently untouched.

Do you have a reason to meet up with him here? Perhaps a study session, a lunch date, a question/answer time? Or maybe you just happen to spot him and feel like sliding in across the booth to visit. Either way, he glances up at his interruption. If he knows you, he'll probably have sussed out who you are already...]

[At first he thought it was nothing more than some fancy advertisement. Who the hell's gonna use rabbits for something other than a pet-related commercial? But when each white furball jumps to another electric billboard or leaps to a new screen on the following building, Bakugo pauses with a quirked brow. Nothing he hasn't seen in busy city districts back home or in this world, but it's interesting for a few seconds. A white jacket lies unzipped over a gray hoodie, matching with dark blue jeans and black sneakers. A more active wear if he needs to move. Murmurs break out around them, people talking about the rabbit, what it could stand for, whether it's a prank or a promise. Doesn't sound like it's happened before if everyone's got rumors without answers.

Bakugo clicks his tongue as he shoves his hands into his jacket pocket and turns away from the entire debacle. The light's about to change anyways, so he needs to cross the street and get back to his car. The other Outsider with him?]

Forget it. It's just some shitty engagement. Let's go.

[Since the first month of his being here, Bakugo has been part of the Neo Tokyo Police Department. Whipped his regiment out of their stupid corruption and made them into a functional team devoid of illicit shit. It sucks he can't force the same throughout the entire police force. This isn't the first time he's been tasked with handling the Black Market. They were selling shit stolen from LILITH's own laboratories a year and a half ago. These bastards never got fully stomped out and exterminated. Looks like he's getting a second chance at trying again.

While others handle the market, Bakugo's taken the auction hall. Where the largest prizes are. Already scouted out the place and indicated on the drawn-up map where the storage space is keeping animals and other smuggled goods. He cracks his knuckles from his place in a side box seat, a black coat covering his usual hero costume. Luckily his Grenadier Bracers are collapsed at the moment, but he can resume those at full power in a blink. All that's left is deciding a plan of attack.]

Wait?! Hell no! We launch a full-scale attack as soon as they bring that shit out and mow down everyone in the place!

[Goddammit! They just came back from the fucking jungle! The simulation is for training, not playing some kind of shitty game! Even if completing the training simulation battles could be seen as a very immersive combat game. Bakugo snarls as he locks one of his Grenade Bracers down over his forearm, then palms a grenade from his belt. Took forever just to wake his partner up from that last shitty roll. He grabs the dice and slings it forward, sending the items rattling in a nearby bowl. Battling inside the base feels strange, considering it had only recently been restored from previously being destroyed. He initially thought the base WAS getting ruined. But with the simulation refusing to end, yeah, they're still in the stupid game. Locked in.]

What the hell is it this time? [Something growling? A hissing noise. Ah shit, he's heard this before. A swarm of those shitty feral cat kaiju from the onsen! Bakugo grabs his partner by the shoulder.] Hold on!

[And slams his free hand down. KA-BOOM! Heat and force rocket the pair up where he can grab onto one of the pipes above.] Get to the second floor! I'll wipe out every fucking one of these!

💥 ➊ GRASS. - Phantom Frost

[Just a bunch of shitty animals. Bakugo hadn't experienced any real injury during his bouts battles in the simulation. Raged a good deal to the gamemaker + overseer about getting them stuck in there AGAIN! It isn't pain he was left inflicted with. What stuck with him-- pissing him off to no end-- is the frigid cold of the blizzard square. Doesn't matter what he's doing or where he fucking is, his body feels like it's freezing! He could be sitting in front of a heater, sweat soaking his clothes, and his brain continues insisting he's gonna get frostbite on his fingers. There's no cure, obviously, and given his experience with night terrors last month as side effects of another kind of medicine, Bakugo refused to take anything for this shit. He'll fight it off on his own, dammit!

1) Find him crouched in front of the base's common ground fireplace, close enough it might get too hot sooner or later, occasionally throwing balls of paper into the flames or poking a stick inside to mess with the embers.

2) Find him sitting in the spring located on the outskirts of the city, face flushed a hot red as his body protests getting cooked like this, while his mind tells him it's not hot enough. At least he's out in nature.

3) Find him outside a restaurant, wearing a sweater and a jacket despite the weather only being cool, glaring at a bowl of steaming soup. He knows he shouldn't be shoving this crap in his mouth, but the split between his body and mind right now is an intense bout of mixed signals.] Goddammit...

Follow The Rabbit? The Musbeast?

[She surprises herself with how… adaptable she has been towards this whole "spiriting away" situation. Of course she was worried upon arriving with a splitting headache in less than reassuring surroundings. It seems that the Transmitter and the implants this organization embedded into her head and wrist have compatibility issues, leaving her unsteady on her feet for the majority of her— orientation?

She admits, she wasn't listening to the robotic voice greeting her with the smell of food making her nauseous until the debriefing informed her that this world was in need of help. That humanity was down to one of its last bastions in Neo Tokyo, and there was no question in her heart that she had to help.

And so here she is, lit under the bright lights of Neo Tokyo in the streets watching and helping people who have followed the strange, digital creature into hazardous and even dangerous places.

Customs Can't Stop Me Nor A Bleeding Heart

[Given her go getter nature after hearing this world needed help, it's only natural she'd throw herself into this mission. Now these are fauna that feel more… familiar to her. It feels almost too easy to infiltrate a market like this, but her civilian identity's background in working with animals somehow smoothed the path for her once the misunderstanding that she was willing to participate in seedier business on behalf of more "elite clients" settled. She's lead to where the merchandise is and left to her devices to inspect said goods.

Admittedly, she's a little apprehensive around animals given her experience on Terra if not a little intrigued as a curious mind, but when the wounded eyes of one meets hers and start overlapping with the eyes of that feline girl she saw in the Loken Williams' experiments, her heart aches with compassion.]

[ Upon returning to the Neo-Tokyo base from their mission in Mexico, all the Outsiders will be met by a friendly face — whether personally familiar or not — that was notably absent during the mission. The lanky teen standing close by the data portal, brimming with barely contained anxious excitement, at least has the wherewithal to wait a small moment for those portaling in to get their bearings and shake off the worst effects of teleporting before he makes his eager approach. It doesn't matter if Yuta's already acquainted with whomever he greets or if they're practically strangers, they're welcomed back warmly all the same, but known (and liked) faces get an extra wide smile. ]

[ Hello darkness Medbay, his old friend, Yuta's come to help out once again. This type of ailment (if it can even truly be called that) is not exactly his forte, but that does not stop him from jumping in and offering his assistance as a healer and a medical professional in training when he's fortunate enough to not have had the effects linger for very long at all. At least he can help shepherd those less fortunate along and keep them occupied while they wait as the staff deals with the sudden influx of people.

So there are gentle hands to come usher and guide you to a bed upon entry. ]
