βΆ FEEDBACK RESPONSES + COMMUNICATION CLARIFICATION.
Hello, everyone! This is a hefty post that is in response to the FEEDBACK POST we had a few weeks ago. Please read this post carefully as it has a lot of information to take in! There are some reconstructing of the game mechanics and new ideas we would like to introduce. We hope this is helpful and makes the game run better for everyone.
Something we would like to address first and foremost is the topic of trigger warnings and assumptions about certain things in the game. There is a lot of stuff going on in this game and it's easy for us as a mod team to forget a detail or a trigger warning. We're humans, and even with several of us proofreading our posts and making sure we don't miss anything, it's possible that we could have accidentally left a detail out or forgot to include a content warning. After all, there's a big difference between a small mod team reading over a post versus a whole player base reading that same post. As our mod team is thinking of the direction the game and plot is going in as a whole, some finer things can be missed. Moving forward, if something like this happens please help us out by doing the following:1. If something was triggering or uncomfortable, inform us right away so we can properly mark the post. This can be done either on the QUESTIONS header that is on every event, or on the MOD CONTACT page which is screened if you would rather communicate that way. The sooner we can edit our event post, the better. On our end, we are going to do our best to not let this happen as often, but please speak up if it does! We have seen some things spread about the last event that weren't true simply because we neglected a detail while we were focused on the rest of the event. Nobody asked for clarification, so we could not respond accordingly.
2. You may have noticed we like to leave small details up to the playerbase, sometimes with a vague answer of: if that is how you would like it to go, that is fine with us! We do things like this to let players do as they would like so everyone can be happy. However, if there is a smaller detail you would like a concrete answer about, you can also reach out on the QUESTIONS comment on each event if you want to be sure about something. That is mostly why that header comment is there.
With that out of the way, we hope it makes sense. And now, onto the meat of this post!
βΆ KAIJU FIGHTS.
1. Upon looking over the suggestions and coming to a conclusion, the RNG aspect of the kaiju fights will be moved from the kaiju fight log to the TRAVEL LOG or whichever log is posted on the 1st, bimonthly. This gives everyone time to put in a roll before the actual log for the fighting starts.
2. The MONSTER DEBRIEF sheet will also be posted on the TRAVEL LOG so Outsiders can see the monster's weaknesses and how to attack. This is OOC information, considering the IC attacks will take place on the 15th, bimonthly. Although this spoils some things about the monster, we think it is more important to make this change first.
3. Attacks will remain two per character. As much as we would like to add more or have attacking indefinitely, we want things to be fair for everyone.
4. In addition to the monster debrief, there will also be a section on the sheet that explains RIFT EFFECTS. During an RNG roll, players may opt in to receive a rift effect if they would like. The rift effects will vary per kaiju, but there should be a total of 3 effects. Which effect characters receive can be randomized with player permission, or you may pick your effect. This will all be on the RNG ATTACK FORM that you all have been filling out each time a character attacks.
5. Please note that this has a chance to alter the second half of the event and may also give us ideas on what to write in the AFTERMATH.
6. AFTERMATH write ups will be streamlined to bullets as some of the aftermath prompts have become redundant.
7. The prompts in the KAIJU FIGHT log will also incorporate smaller kaiju to make things more interactive. Sometimes it will be offspring or sometimes it will be smaller kaiju.
1. We like the suggestion of incorporating a SOCIAL, OBSERVATIONAL and PHYSICAL aspect into areas that will have investigating parts. A brief summary of what characters can observe will be on logs that have this aspect to the prompts (typically may be seen in areas such as a TRAVEL LOG where characters are put in a new setting.)
2. Although we cannot promise this is something we can do every event, we will try to integrate it into our posts more often.
The original vision for LILITH was inspired by Evangelion, and Eiji Shiro, especially, was inspired by Gendou Ikari (who is... not the best kind of dude) and Captain Yamakawa is our version of Misato Katsuragi. We did not intended for this game to be NPC heavy nor allow for much NPC interaction considering we are a small mod team that cannot sustain something of that sort. Earlier in the game, we were trying to find our footing with how these NPCs should be, and we liked the idea of morally gray characters who are ultimately doing good, but maybe in a shady way of doing it since this is a gritty cyberpunk setting that shouldn't be easy to get along with others. As a reminder, characters do not have to trust or completely agree with LILITH, but are expected to cooperate with LILITH in order to be accepted into the game.
A lot of the feedback we received about the NPCs centered around Eiji Shiro, LILITH's Commander, and the one who punished the Outsiders last year. We are still trying to decide how we want to change this and have these suggestions:
With whatever happens, this NPC will not be in charge of LILITH anymore, and the organization will run more smoothly.1. Killing off Eiji Shiro, who is in poor health anyway and hand over LILITH to Yamakawa,
OR
2. Killing off Eiji Shiro and introducing a new NPC who is the Commander.
To clarify, we initially did not allow player run businesses but have allowed it after the game opened for a few months. Since then, creating a business page off the community site has always been allowed, but we never specified that it was. So here it is! And actually, it'll be a requirement:
1. The LOCATIONS page will be revamped and the player business form will be re-written. Having a moodboard, inspiration, or some other detailed page for a player run business will be required. This helps everyone visualize the same thing and be on the same page.
2. Outsiders will also be able to work for LILITH outside of being a kaiju fighter. There will also be a new form for this that requires approval, but it mostly just the basics of your characters and what area they will be working in.
3. The PLAYER RUN BUSINESS page will be a new page that is linked in the LOCATIONS. Players will no longer have to wait for a business approval. Simply fill out the form and link your business page. The comment will remain not replied to so players can edit the comment if they need to.
4. The DROP FORM will remind a player to delete their business comment / LILITH work information comment if they drop.
Something else we want to remind players of is that although we love incorporating player plots that can affect the environment when we can, we have seen plenty of other characters do their own things with the setting.
Examples of things you don't need to ask us about:
Hosting parties, foraging outside Neo Tokyo for supplies, starting a fight club, starting a player run business, and so on.
Examples of things we'd like for you to bring to us first:
Making changes to the base, hacking ocular implants for a prank, "fixing" large issues in the setting (such as the larger food resource problem), anything that can significantly affect the setting (stopping crime in Neo Tokyo, revamping all of the schools, political corruption), and so on.
These are just some examples. In general, we try to work with players who bring ideas to us but bear in mind depending on our plans for the game, we may ask for changes or reject some plots. On that note, we are opening up MOD APPLICATIONS specifically for a main mod who will help with prompt writing and overall plot. You can view and fill out the application over here and post it. The comments will be screened.
That is all! You are welcome to leave any comments or thoughts, questions, below, but these are the decisions we have made (aka: this isn't a feedback post to the feedback post!)
Thanks for reading and for also giving us some good ideas.
