βΆ GENERAL UPDATES.
Hi everyone, happy almost 8 month anniversary! We're all glad to see everyone still having fun in our little game. The mod team is back with some updates for everyone, including updated guidelines on player plots, application and activity check updates, and some news on bonus rewards.
Before we get started, here's a recap of the upcoming month schedule.AUGUST 1: Travel Log (New Location)
AUGUST 15: Kaiju Fight Log
AUGUST 25th: Feedback Post #2, Mod Meme
SEPTEMBER 1: TDM Posted, Reserves Open
SEPTEMBER 5: Reserves Close, Applications Open
SEPTEMBER 8: Reserves Expire, OOC/Intro Meme
SEPTEMBER 10: Applications Close,
SEPTEMBER 15: Text Mingle
βΆ APPLICATION UPDATE.
Regarding applications, we want this to be a game where players can have fun with character powers. On our application page and FAQ page, we list powers that are totally nerfed as well guidelines for some other powers. In some cases, players will have to propose their own nerfs and we, as a mod team, will decide if they are acceptable or need further revision.
Lately, our most frequent revision requests have been related to powers.
We have received applications from players who play characters with an exhaustive list of powers that are often not clearly explained. We are not familiar with every canon and especially not familiar with original characters. Please explain powers as clearly as possible, and, again, propose your own nerfs if necessary. If we notice enough powers are not explained clearly, we may just reject the application instead of listing multiple revisions.
Lastly, we have received some applications that include multiple powers that are potentially game breaking and overpowered even with nerfs. As a result, we have to propose multiple nerfs. Going forward, if we receive applications for characters without adequate nerfs and that are at high risk of conflicting with the game setting, plot, and player base, we may reject the application instead of offering revisions.
βΆ JOINING COMMS/FILLING OUT FORMS.
Lately, we have had some problems with players not filling out their forms or joining the comms after being accepted. Itβs important to fill out all of these forms and join the comms so we can keep track of the game.
Going forward, if players do not fill the appropriate forms and join the comms by the 15th of the month, we will rescind their acceptances. We will not be reminding players to join. If you need more time for some reason, let us know as soon as possible.
βΆ ACTIVITY CHECK UPDATE.
To note, there are no changes being made to the current submission guidelines. Activity will remain 20 points across a maximum of three threads, to be submitted before the end of the month. However, we have added a clause to the Activity Check page clarifying situations in which we may ask players for additional proofs. There has always been a rule that mods have the right to contact players we feel are not engaging with the game, but we decided to also list out examples in the interest of transparency.
Synflux is a capped game reliant on an active playerbase and we as mods expect players to actively engage with both the setting and other members of the playerbase. If players cannot provide alternate proofs when asked, they will be swept. Please see the ACTIVITY CHECK page for more details.
βΆ PLAYER PLOTS.
Thanks to everyone who has come to us in the past few months with fun ideas and plots, and for bearing with the mod team as we try and respond to everyone. The mod team has been hard at work putting together guidelines to help make player plot submission as efficient as possible.
We have a Player Plots page. Please submit and ask questions about player plots here.
The new Player Plot page will have the full list of guidelines to keep in mind while coming up with player plots as well as a place for any player to submit a plot, but the quick rundown is as follows:- Who are all of the characters involved? We appreciate everyone's enthusiasm in wanting to dig into the setting and lore, but Synflux was never meant to be a "rebel against the system" game or one heavily reliant on NPC interaction, and as such we encourage player plots that allow for characters to work together to achieve a greater goal or build better resources for themselves rather than antagonize LILITH.
- What do you hope to achieve specifically?
- How will the characters achieve these results?
- If you succeed, what do you want?
-If you fail, what potential punishments are you OK with?
Since this is a new process, there are bound to be some kinks to work out. We ask for your patience as we streamline this new process and ask that you leave all player plot-related questions on the PLAYER PLOT page. We will be adding a link to this on the main navigation soon.
βΆ NEW REWARDS.
With the conclusion of another kaiju battle comes new rewards! The Rewards page now reflects these new items for purchase:- Cat Ear Visors (100 pts)Additionally after some discussion, we are allowing players to pool their points to purchase larger rewards that can impact the playerbase as a whole. Currently we have two main methods of letting players pool their points:
- Poison Dagger (100 pts)
- Ice and Lightning Elemental Swords (100 pts)- Buying gifts for the entire playerbase, as Eski did during the Tanabata event. In general, this would be the cost of the item multiplied by the number of players in the game. Some prices may vary depending on the type of reward request being made. Feel free to discuss with us if you are unsure.Because these rewards can affect the entire game and may require more deliberation on our part, we are going to ask players to request large rewards on the PLAYER PLOT page.
- 'Upgrading' the base with new add-ons, for example, if characters wanted to add an onsite theater to the base. The cost for these upgrades will vary depending on the upgrade. For now, we will start costs at 1000 points. However, as we want these upgrades to be a group effort rather than funded entirely by one person, each player will only be allowed to contribute a maximum of 500 points to the total cost.
βΆ FEEDBACK.
As a reminder, now that we are in our set schedule, we will no longer have a feedback post after every cycle or event. However, we always welcome feedback! Feel free to reach out with suggestions at any time, and we leave ourselves open to contact. If time passes and we feel the need to offer another feedback post, we will.
