TDM #5
TEST DRIVE & SIMULATION #5
▶ 001. ARRIVAL / CAFETERIA.
It happens in the blink of an eye -- a dash of time. You're taken from where you were. What you were doing.. it isn't important anymore, and slowly, you give up to desire your normal life. When you awake, figures are looking down on you from a surgical table.
"Yeah, this one will do; let's take them to the rest," That's all you see before losing consciousness again, only to wake up in a pod with many others.
"Your questions will be answered soon enough as I'm sure you will have many," a female, robotic voice says.
Just then, your pod opens in a dim corridor with many others. Your new life is about to begin... whether you like it or not.
The pods drain their stasis fluid which wakens each Outsider. When Outsiders emerge from their pod in only their undergarments which have been supplied to them and head to a locker room in the medical bay, to find a towel to dry off with, a set of gray loungewear to wear as LILITH makes the final decision in organizing the Outsider to their rightful teams. If a character has any accessibility needs, they will be found here. It's about then they will feel a sharp pain at the back of their eyes, almost like there’s a foreign body lodged on the inside of their head. This pain will subside quickly as their body adapts to the changes, but there will always be a sensation of something being not quite right. That their bodies have been changed forever. They would be correct in thinking that. In the pod, all Outsiders have been surgically fitted with ocular and brain implants that will enable them to communicate with LILITH and the rest of the crew, and feed them the information they require. Almost like a computer screen has been loaded into their brains, they will see a loading screen as the implant completes its download. A questionnaire will then pop up, waiting for their answer. A voice, robotic and feminine, will also read along in their brain for them.
█ █ █ LOADING COMPLETE … BEGIN ORIENTATION …
The system will give Outsiders one chance to provide a truthful answer and choose their username and civilian identity. Should they refuse to cooperate, the implant will download the answer directly from their brain (and give them a username or civilian name against their will). This questionnaire will then be posted on the network for all to view and reply to. Almost like an ice-breaker, if you will. LILITH wants all their newest recruits to learn about each other!
Outsiders will receive a quick brief about their situation: They will be told that the year is 2278, and they have been taken to Neo Tokyo, one of the last bastions of mankind in a world terrorized by various Kaiju and monsters. Only a third of the population remains, and LILITH has gathered talented people from other dimensions here as a last ditch effort to save humanity. Outsiders are free to continue asking LILITH questions through their implant, but there’s no guarantee they will provide them with a straight answer …
Outsiders will also notice an implant in their dominant wrist. This implant has a barcode in it that will enable them to purchase goods from the local stores in Neo Tokyo. They will receive a starting balance of 10,000 KRYPTOS (about USD 66), which is barely enough for a few good meals, groceries and supplies. They can view their current balance through a hologram window projected by their ocular implant.
While there would normally be a meal available for them in the cafeteria, this doesn’t seem to be the case this time. Robots working within the cafeteria will instead be handing out food ration bars to each Outsider. They are dense with calories and nutrition, but taste a bit like sawdust.
That familiar, robotic voice is heard again:

▶ 002. THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME.
Existing Outsiders will receive a call to report to the data portal within Las Vegas. They’ve done their parts helping to take down the worm kaiju and assisting with the clean up of the city. LILITH’s army of cleaner drones can take the rest from here. It’s been a physically and emotionally draining mission for everyone, and it’s time to head home. The beaming back to Neo Tokyo will go rather smoothly for the most part (and yes, holding someone’s hand through it still helps), but upon arrival, Outsiders might be struck with a splitting headache, nausea and vertigo. They might need an hour or so to recuperate, which they can do in their rooms or the sick bay.
New and fresh Outsiders will be given the task to take care of their seniors as they recuperate. Make sure they have water and food (even if it’s terrible ration bars). Give them a massage, or cheer them up because they’ve had such a difficult mission! It’s a great way to build bonds and get to know your teammates. Ask them what happened in Vegas! They’ll be more than happy to tell you.

▶ 003. TOO HOT TO HANDLE.
One thing Outsiders will notice immediately upon stepping foot in the Neo Tokyo base is that it is hot. Did someone forget to turn on the air conditioning? The rest of Neo Tokyo doesn’t seem to be any better. With summer approaching, the city has been hit with a heatwave, and it doesn’t help that the heat is interfering with the city’s power generators. This means that not only is it hot, but notices are popping up within everyone’s implants to be mindful of how much electricity they are using. Blackouts appear to be happening all over the base and the city. Electricity is being rationed, and when residents exceed it, it’s cut off.
This is having a devastating impact on the people of Neo Tokyo. The fact that it’s hot and there isn’t much air conditioning is one thing. Hospitals are also struggling from an influx of patients being admitted due to heat stroke, dehydration and severe sunburns. Fires are breaking out more often in the heat and this is only making things worse.
On top of it all, restaurants and stores have been greatly impacted by the electricity rations. Refrigerators and freezers are not working, so food storage is a problem and fresh ingredients are going bad. Restaurants are desperate to sell off what remains of their stock before it spoils. LILITH has been giving out food ration bars and non-perishable meals (such as canned food) and it’s been keeping the people from starving, but their subpar taste doesn’t seem to help the morale one bit.
While LILITH knows that older Outsiders have just had a difficult mission, there’s no choice but to activate them once again. A mission brief will pop up in everyone’s implants:
While things aren’t looking too great, the Neo Tokyo Meteorological Agency is promising that temperatures will go down when the rainy season comes along. There hasn’t been much rain recently, however …

█ █ █ MISSION OBJECTIVE:
✖Contain heat-wave related fires and conduct rescue operations
✖Assist hospitals to care for the influx of patients while they may not have the power to use their medical equipment
✖Distribute water and food rations to citizens in need
✖Assist restaurants and supermarkets to salvage their food supplies as far as possible
While things aren’t looking too great, the Neo Tokyo Meteorological Agency is promising that temperatures will go down when the rainy season comes along. There hasn’t been much rain recently, however …
▶ 004. WELCOME TO OKINAWA.
After a few days of continued efforts to support the people of Neo Tokyo, things seem to have calmed down. LILITH has fired up some backup generators that are able to power the hospital and essential services, most of the fires have been contained, and the hospital has been able to get its patient load under control. LILITH has stepped in to further support the city, with their drones working hard to hand out supplies and provide medical aid. Restaurants continue to struggle, but nobody is starving, and LILITH is working hard to get the power back in operation.
On July 5th, there is a message from Captain Yamakawa:

Departure is set at 1100hrs, and Outsiders will be provided a water bottle and some sunscreen. Once they step through the data portal, they will be met with soft sand, the hot sun, and clear, beautiful waves - Welcome to Okinawa! Specifically, Outsiders will find themselves in Emerald Beach. While the water is pristine, the first thing Outsiders might notice is that there are unnaturally large coconut crabs all over the shoreline; with the majority of them the size of a large dog, and the largest of them about the size of a car.
Nearby to the beach, there are many abandoned fruit farms (such as watermelon, dragon fruits, mango and pineapples) that may have fresh produce for Outsiders to harvest. With how the rift changes the environment, some of these fruits have grown humongous in size. On top of that, the water appears to be cleaner than that found in Tokyo Bay. There are fish still swimming in it, and while some of these fish appear to have mutated, they do not appear inedible.
This is probably what Captain Yamakawa means by ‘supplies’.
On July 5th, there is a message from Captain Yamakawa:
“My Angels of LILITH. You may be at ease now. Our dedicated staff will take over from here. It’s been a difficult month for us all. To show appreciation for your efforts, we have organized a company trip to allow you the appropriate rest and relaxation. We do ask that you gather some supplies since food is short in Neo Tokyo, but that should be an easy task for our talented workforce. Please report to the data portals for departure at once."

▶ 005. THIS IS A VACATION WE PROMISE.
“Are they seriously making you guys work on your vacation?! This is why we can’t leave everything up to that stiff-ass commander. This should be our beach episode! Don’t worry, your daddy Seok Dang’s got you. Take a crab, take whatever you want, have a damn barbeque! Lie on the beach until your tan comes in. Get nude! Let’s get this party started!”
(LILITH would highly discourage anyone from actually taking off their clothes.) Following Seok Dang’s message, outsiders will notice a pop-up appearing in their eyes, prompting them to accept an outfit upgrade. If accepted, they will find themselves in beach-appropriate attire (player’s choice) using LILITH’s Style Upgrade technology.
Despite Seok Dang’s bid for a party, Outsiders will have to make their own fun in this abandoned beach. They are free to do as they like, whether it’s having a swim, lying in the sand, playing a game of volleyball with an old ball that happens to be lying around, or cracking open a watermelon to share. He does try to encourage things along by sending a few gifts. Through the data portal, several drones will emerge and drop off portable grills, boomboxes, and alcohol from his private stash. For some reason he’s also unleashed a robot that is insistent on challenging Outsiders to a watermelon slicing competition. It looks like he’s serious about this beach episode …
Outsiders may travel between Okinawa and Neo Tokyo throughout the few days using the data portals. There are no resorts in operation in Okinawa, but should they choose to stay near the beach, they may set up a camp or sleep in an abandoned house or hotel.
▶ 006. AFTERWORD.
Welcome to our fifth TDM! All TDM threads are game canon; characters who don't app will be glitched out of this world. As TDM will act as the event, existing characters are heavily encouraged to participate. We encourage this format for top levels: CHARACTER | CANON | CURRENT / NEW CHARACTER. '
There are currently 13 available player slots. New players are welcome to use this TDM to get samples for when APPLICATIONS open.
None of the prompts suit your fancy? Feel free to check out our main base and locations page and make up your own prompts! (Note that Las Vegas is currently being rebuilt and will be made available to visit sometime next month.)
Use the code provided in the ARRIVAL prompt if you'd like to participate in the ice breaker and place it in your top level along with your other prompts. Anything such as civilian name or username can be marked as UNDECIDED if you're unsure of what you'd like your character to have for now. Though it says 'Orientation', existing characters can still participate in the ice-breaker.
For oldbies: for a job well done after the last kaiju mission, 250,000,000 KRYPTOS (~1700 USD) will be deposited into everyone's account. And to our kaiju MVPs: we haven't forgotten you! Those characters will get their due recognition next event. :)
Please note that all tags in this log will count for 2 reward points each and will count towards July AC.

TDM #5 BREAKDOWN/RECAP (CLICK TO EXPAND)
1. ARRIVAL PROMPT: Newcomers arrive with ocular and brain implants and told a breakdown of the premise with an icebreaker orientation to fill out. Their first cafeteria meal is food ration bars. Newcomers are placed in gray loungewear while they are being sorted into teams.
2. THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME: Senior Outsiders return from Las Vegas via the data portal and will experience side effects such as dizziness, nausea and headaches. Newer Outsiders are tasked with taking care of their senpai.
3. TOO HOT TO HANDLE: There is a heatwave and that's messed up the power grid, leading to a city-wide electricity ration. Hospitals are struggling, fires are breaking out and black outs are happening all over the city. Restaurants are struggling to store their food so there there is a shortage of fresh food. Outsiders are tasked with assisting the hospitals, containing any fires, distributing rations to citizens and assisting restaurants to salvage their supplies.
4. WELCOME TO OKINAWA: With the chaos in the city now under control, LILITH has sent all Outsiders on a vacation to a beach in Okinawa. The caveat is that they will need to gather food supplies. These supplies come in the form of a coconut crab kaiju, fresh fruit and fish.
5. THIS IS A VACATION WE PROMISE: Seok Dang is eager to get this beach party starter. He's updated the implants, allowing all Outsiders to swap into beach-appropriate attire using LILITH's Style Upgrade technology. He's airdropped portable grills, music players and alcohol for Outsiders to enjoy. There is also a robot challenging people to watermelon slicing competitions. Outsiders can do whatever they want to relax at the beach.

What is your darkest fear? Failing to protect the Earth
[ The questionnaire on top of everything else is a barrage of information. He checks it off as Strange but Not Pressing and it's left to fill in itself. By the time he starts to attach meaning to the symbols he's seeing he's STILL not getting the point of this. But he'll at least be able to use the network system and not be completely confused by being texted. ]
TOO HOT TO HANDLE
[ After the trials and tribulations of waking up, trying to done clothing in his normal form (the loungewear didnt make it), and learning to interpret the flow of information from his implants, the rise of a threat to the lives of those around him is a welcome return to normalcy. Crisis, protecting the weaker and small, that all makes sense. Sure the creations of humanity are frustratingly taller than him now but he's adjusting. Not being able to see over the artificial lairs is rough, however not having to watch where he steps or be mindful of his tail is a decent trade off. Besides height some of these things still don't make sense! The cloaking device has left disguised and disquieted. The appearance of an extra digit on his hands is especially troubling, although the strange human device has at least rendered him fully clothed.
Godzilla is doing what he does best, wandering from one spot that needs help to the next. Using his strength and absurd extra finger he's been hauling supplies of water back and forth, answering most attempts to address him with non-committal grunts or single word sentences. Having the small ones understand him is still novel, he's not sure how to feel about it and is fully aware that he's not supposed to give away what he IS to anyone outside the new lair, brevity seems the best course of action.
Of course his instincts to protect are far stronger than his instincts to blend in. If he's not caught hauling around heavy loads you can find him running straight into a burning building and coming back out with an entire family, two adults piggy backed ontop of him and one another in a fireman carry, and a small child huddled protectively in his arms. There's no concern spared for the soot he's covered in nor his own labored breathing, instead he makes for the first one he sees that is set out as another Outsider. With a grunt he heads that way, shaking off the two adults on his back as gently as that can be done, then straightening and holding out the child. His stare is intense. ]
I worry for the hatchling, it could use skilled assistance. The elders will heal with rest.
OKINAWA 1
[ Okinawa makes sense, finally! The data portal is like the way to the earth beneath, the tingle is different but not unbearable, and the destination! Clean air, the light coming from the sky instead of the creations of man, no constant machine noise, water! Actual water! Nothing could be better, he could actually rest here. The sand and water call to him in equal measure, the question is which to do- wait a second.
Godzilla is not through the portal very long before his gaze focuses on the crabs. Those don't seem right. They also seem like prey. Within moments of spotting a larger one off on its own his dorsal spines are flashing pink bioluminescence and he's charging forward with an challenging "Skreeonk!". The crab meets the challenge with clacking claws as its eyes find its attacker. There's a tussle, the combatants are of an equal in height so it comes down to skill of tooth and claw. The crab gets in some good scores on his scales but after a moment Godzilla bonks it hard on the head with a fist, uses his tail to flip it to its back, and proceeds to... well. Okay look smart as he is he's still a dinosaur at heart, he tears into that thing's underside with his claws and starts eating while it twitches and expires. He'll worry about the whole capturing thing later when he's full. Probably. Maybe.
Noticing he's being watched Godzilla looks up from his prey to you, head tilted to the side, things that used to be crab around his muzzle.]
Oh. You are hungry as well?
OKINAWA 2
[ Hunting crabs and occasional swims around the beach to patrol, complete with flashing his spines while under the water to ward off other potential intruders and herd the crabs hiding out in the water closer to shore for the other Outsiders to more easily snare as their own, takes up a good portion of the day. Even he gets tired though, especially in this smaller body, so by noon Godzilla comes ashore. He pretty quickly begins to make a spot for himself not far from where the majority of Outsiders have settled in, burrowing at the sand with his claws, brushing areas smooth with his tail, and settling in like a husky in snow with his tail curled around him. Except you know, he's a slightly bigger than an NBA player lizard in sand. He's still pretty aware of his surroundings even when he starts snoring, if anyone gets close enough an eye will crack open and his head will lift and tilt in acknowledgement. ]
Something you need of me?
VACATION!!!
[ Godzilla has been left alone with modern technology and no supervision thanks to Seok Dang's care package. The not-so-titan-anymore king has decided to indulge some curiosity into the workings of the things humans have made. By taking them apart. He's secured two boomboxes to play around with, one of which already reduced to a pile of jumbled electronics and plastic, albeit a very neat easy to pick up and remove from the beach jumble. The second boombox is being subject to his curious claws, the speakers playing music that occasional squeals or hisses as Godzilla pops one of the speaker covers out and carefully toys with the wires with the claw of his smallest finger. His head is tilted and his maw is set in an unmistakably perplexed disposition. ]
Feels like lightning in these colored intestines. Very small lightning. How do they do that?
[ And he's stumbled upon the very human thing of talking to yourself to think better. God(zilla) help us, it's all down hill from here. At least he hasn't tried chewing on the wires. Yet.]
WILDCARD
[ If you're not feeling any of this or have another idea in mind I'm pretty open! Throw something at me or feel free to pm me! ]
okinawa 1 and i'm sorry in advance.......
But here, he's been bumping shoulders with other people who are just plain boring humans and he's nervous he's going to have another repeat of not fitting in as he so often does when faced in a group of people. Humans. Despite being human himself, sometimes they disgust him... the way they treat one another with prejudice and go after things like money and fame. Laios very rarely finds people he can connect with, which is why monsters and animals were so much better.
The cry from Godzilla gets his attention instantly, and maybe he's a bit too eager to explore through some beach vegetation to peer into a clearing on the beach and see.. and see the most spectacular thing he's seen since coming here. What is that? Some kind of dragon? He's never seen one with bio-luminescence spines like that. The way it wrestles with the crab; it's showing signs of both human-like and creature-like fighting. Laios is wracking his monsterpedia brain so hard but has come to conclusion that he doesn't know what this monster is, but like all monsters, it's proven to be dangerous.
When Godzilla notices him spying on him, his eyes are wide, face is flushed, and all of the breath as escaped from his body. He feels light-headed, and instinct tells him to run, but how could he? How could he, especially now that he is acknowledged him and .. yes, doesn't seem to be a threat to him. Maybe to the crabs, but not to him. ]
I .. uh .. that was ...
[ Disgusting? Terrifying? ]
So TOTALLY COOL!
plz dont be live your truth
But the vernacular is still going to take some time to grasp. He tilts his head and thumps his tail in the sand. ]
Cool...?
[ It is quite a bit cooler here than the tight collection of lairs, or city, whatever they want to call it. But that's not right, is it? The human is referring to something else. He looks down at the crab, then back up, the wonder of context breaking through to his brain. ]
You wish to heat the prey first?
[ Slang is going to take awhile. ]
no subject
No.. no no.. you are.. so cool. Spectacular. Wonderful. Amazing. I.. I have no words.
[ why is his face still FLUSHED.. and his voice, it’s still trembling. His eyes are hastily perceiving Godzilla with interest, looking for any signs of what terrain he might be from. Does he have gills? What kind of scales does he have? Laios has a hand out, palm facing Godzilla as one might do when cautiously approaching a creature, and he very reluctantly takes a step forward and out of the bushes. ]
I don’t want to disrupt your eating. Please, uh, don’t mind me. Keep doing what you are doing.
no subject
Laios has made the King of the Monsters feel embarrassed. Congrats. ]
You are an interesting one.
[ He regards the approach for a second, recognizing this gesture from so many times in the past. Caution but good intentions, friendly is what they call it right? He should try to be friendly too, it's only proper! Maybe it'll help with the strange feeling in his chest too.
And thus does Laios get an early Christmas. Godzilla steps past his kill with care to close the distance, leaning down to offer his snout to Laios' outstretched hand. As a bonus Laios should be close enough to see the slots in the lizard's neck, he does in fact have gills! ]
You may join me. There is plenty of food in this hardshell for two.
no subject
[ Laios is, mostly, holding out his hand to signal he means no harm and move very slowly and cautiously, but he freezes in one spot when the large reptile makes his way closer and Laios can't breathe for a moment. He feels the rough texture of the monster's snout on his palm and he practically feels weak at the knees. He's tame! Just like the monsters at the Golden Castle, he's tame. Instantly, his stiff shoulders relax, the breath that he was holding finally escapes him and there's.. a real sense of serenity in his eyes. Being so in-tune with something so magnificent; something that just minutes ago tore a crab into pieces in a tussle, is now talking to Laios in such a calm and soothing voice-- Laios is certain he's never heard anyone talk to him like this with such kindness, beast or human.
Just thinking about it.. it makes the corners of his eyes dampen a little, but he does catch the sight of those gills on the neck, maybe if there's traces of dried sea salt on Godzilla's body, or webbing in-between his toes. Either way, the gills is enough for Laios to blurt out. ]
Oh!
[ yes please this is a good distraction so he won't start crying..! ]
You're from the sea.. you probably eat stuff like this a lot, don't you?

[ He looks off to the distance where more crabs scuttle across the beach, his tail thumping like an agitated cat's against the sand. ] There is much work to do, many of these hard shells need to be culled. It'll be easier once you take their energy.

I suppose I am, aren't I?
[She hasn't found any reason to be big in a literal sense for...well, a long long time, but she's "big" in a conceptual sense and it's hard to divorce that from her mindset usually. It's only by LILITH's bringing her here that she isn't anymore. Honestly, she hadn't really had to consider it before now; it's odd. (neutrally)
Well, she'll have plenty of time to ponder it later. Despite the fact she is a scrawny little woman not far past the 5ft line, she seems pretty confident as she turns in the direction of the crabs up ahead.]
Do you want me to bring you back some extra?
[Assuming he's intending on finishing what he has there.]

He probably shouldn't underestimate his fellow Outsiders. Underestimating others is how he almost got brain damaged by a giant ape. Old habits die hard though. ]
Have some of this one before you hunt. I have taken enough for now.
[ He steps back from the crab politely, tail swaying across the ground. Very much giving "cat offering up a mouse" vibes. ]
no subject
[That's what he is now, it can't be helped.
What would likely be surprising to any human watching is that when the crab is offered, she approaches to crouch down beside his hunt and scoops up some of the flesh in her hand to eat, with no hesitation regarding it being raw...or, y'know, previously eaten by a dinosaur.
Sure, it doesn't taste as good as if it had been cooked over a fire, but she also isn't that picky.]
What do you think, then? The climate gives it a tangier taste than I'm used to with crab, I think.
[The...mutation, she means.]

OKINAWA 2
The only thing he's seen of slight concern is a flash out in the water earlier, as if something glowing crested the waves and was gone. Nothing else despite keeping an eye on the spot. It flushed a few crabs towards the shore, but ultimately Bakugo chalked it up to an ocean-faring predator that decided to come to the shallows for a moment.
All of that, however... gets chucked out the window as he stares at the creature on the sand not too far from him. Having just returned from a brief scout around the area, Bakugo completely missed A FUCKING GIANT ASS LIZARD!! That's insulting on its own, but this isn't just any lizard. There's zero ability for any Japanese boy to mistake those dorsal spines. This is unmistakably, the one and only-]
Godzillo?!
[Yes, that is in fact a Pro Hero from his world. Sans his costume.]
I am so glad for this you don't even know
Much like a large dog or cat Godzilla doesn't really get up from his comfy position, he just picks his head and chest up with a grunt, arms folded nestle under him. Recognition flashes, he's met this one before! They worked together in the fires. He certainly has a unique way of pronouncing Godzilla's name but it's close enough.]
Louder Spiked-fur. It is good to meet again.
[ That could be an insult if it wasn't so earnestly polite. ]
Haha he's a legend!
Bakugo narrows his eyes when the kaiju lifts his head, still wavering between admiration and wariness. Just because this thing looks like Godzillo and/or Gojira, doesn't mean he's the real thing. Not confirmed yet at least. But is he? Something might've happened in the kidnapping. FUCK YES IT'S KIDNAPPING!! FIGHT HIM!!]
Huh?
[Who the fuck is Louder Spiked-fur- WhAT?!]
I've never met you in my life! I just saw you at I-Island!
no subject
You know me. Surprising.
[ He straightens up a bit more, staring intently, tail unfurling from around his body to stay eagerly. Like a happy dog or cat deciding on pouncing ]
I do not know most names small ones give places. Which island? The one where your kind docks their metal vessels? Where they tried to raise the Rival? Or was it the one that almost frozen?
[ He is SO excited and going to be so let down. How could you do this you absolute villain? ]
no subject
And he can talk like Gojira. That's strange as fuck.]
I know a version of you.
[Gonna be flat honest with that. Bakugo narrows his eyes as the kaiju shifts more, body rising and tail moving. Yeah, definitely similar elements of the one he knows, but not entirely the same.]
You wouldn't know. You weren't the one there. [But having some want to explain at least-] I-Island is an artificial moving island made so scientists can peacefully research together. A Pro Hero with powers like yours was there for the exhibition.
[Perhaps there's something similar in this guy's work?
HE'S NOT SOME DAMN VILLAIN, DAMMIT!!]

vacación
Circuits. They contain the spark that starts up the electricity, the lightning, so it doesn't explode or burn as it powers the device.
[ It's a touch more complicated than that, but she figures he might not know what an electron is. ]
no subject
Veins then, not intestines, this makes more sense.
[ Slipping a claw further into the case he pries out the circuit board, head tilting. ]
Then this is the heart. The... electricity? It comes from here the strongest.
no subject
I think that's called the motherboard. The "brain." It sends the signals to the rest of the parts to read the music and play it.
[ The one he found has a CD reader in it, which she points to before gesturing to the speakers next. ]
That thing will read music off of these disc things called CDs, and the sound will come out of these parts here.
no subject
The music isn't it's own then, it mimics it. From another creation?
[ He shakes his head, impressed and just a little confounded. ]
Every technology your kind have is layered within layers. The mind writer in our heads is the most straight forward so far.
no subject
Yeah. They put the music on a disc after it's been recorded somewhere else. [ "Mind writer" though...does he mean the texting function? That's gotta be it. ] It's a lot to dissect, so you're not wrong.

dusts this off don't mind me
Totally understand that though. Fear of failure is intense.
minds you
If there is fear I am not doing great. Fear means failure is possible, eliminating it will mean a job well done.
well dang
Fear is normal. Letting it rule you is when it starts getting bad.
no subject
The fear will never leave, that is the point, the job will never be good enough. It is a drive, like territory or hunger. Prey creatures fear being eaten, they can never do enough to remove this fear. So they keep going harder and harder. The moment one thinks they have done well enough is the moment they lapse, then get eaten. 💀
My fear is likewise impossible to remove. If I accept I am doing a "great 💯💯 job" I might delude into thinking otherwise, then all will suffer. So I must always do Better. 👍
