βΆ 003. TEST DRIVE & SIMULATION #3
TEST DRIVE & SIMULATION #3
βΆ 001. ARRIVAL / CAFETERIA.
It happens in the blink of an eye -- a dash of time. You're taken from where you were. What you were doing.. it isn't important anymore, and slowly, you give up to desire your normal life. When you awake, figures are looking down on you from a surgical table.
"Yeah, this one will do; let's take them to the rest," That's all you see before losing consciousness again, only to wake up in a pod with many others.
"Your questions will be answered soon enough as I'm sure you will have many," a female, robotic voice says.
Just then, your pod opens in a dim corridor with many others. Your new life is about to begin... whether you like it or not.
The pods drain their stasis fluid which wakens each Outsider. When Outsiders emerge from their pod in only their undergarments which have been supplied to them and head to a locker room in the medical bay, to find a towel to dry off with, a set of gray loungewear to wear as LILITH makes the final decision in organizing the Outsider to their rightful teams. If a character has any accessibility needs, they will be found here. It's about then they will feel a sharp pain at the back of their eyes, almost like thereβs a foreign body lodged on the inside of their head. This pain will subside quickly as their body adapts to the changes, but there will always be a sensation of something being not quite right. That their bodies have been changed forever. They would be correct in thinking that. In the pod, all Outsiders have been surgically fitted with ocular and brain implants that will enable them to communicate with LILITH and the rest of the crew, and feed them the information they require. Almost like a computer screen has been loaded into their brains, they will see a loading screen as the implant completes its download. A questionnaire will then pop up, waiting for their answer. A voice, robotic and feminine, will also read along in their brain for them.
β β β LOADING COMPLETE β¦ BEGIN ORIENTATION β¦
The system will give Outsiders one chance to provide a truthful answer and choose their username and civilian identity. Should they refuse to cooperate, the implant will download the answer directly from their brain (and give them a username or civilian name against their will). This questionnaire will then be posted on the network for all to view and reply to. Almost like an ice-breaker, if you will. LILITH wants all their newest recruits to learn about each other!
Outsiders will receive a quick brief about their situation: They will be told that the year is 2278, and they have been taken to Neo Tokyo, one of the last bastions of mankind in a world terrorized by various Kaiju and monsters. Only a third of the population remains, and LILITH has gathered talented people from other dimensions here as a last ditch effort to save humanity. Outsiders are free to continue asking LILITH questions through their implant, but thereβs no guarantee they will provide them with a straight answer β¦
Outsiders will also notice an implant in their dominant wrist. This implant has a barcode in it that will enable them to purchase goods from the local stores in Neo Tokyo. They will receive a starting balance of 10,000 KRYPTOS (about USD 66), which is barely enough for a few good meals, groceries and supplies. They can view their current balance through a hologram window projected by their ocular implant.
Once they leave the medical bay, theyβll be able to grab a quick meal in the cafeteria and mingle with the other Outsiders just waking up. Todayβs menu is oniku sashimi, miso soup, and ginger salad, all packed neatly in a food ration tray. Oniku is whale tail meat. Huh. There's been a whale theme going around here lately. Must be a coincidence... right?
That familiar, robotic voice is heard again:

βΆ 002. SUBJECT NOT FOUND.
Early in the morning on March 2nd, the power suddenly goes out. Outsiders may wake up to find that wake-up alarms never went off, the coffee machines don't work, and breakfast isn't ready in the cafeteria because of the sudden outage. Early risers may find themselves trapped in their team wings when automatic doors refuse to budge and those who are particularly unlucky may find themselves stuck in an elevator.
Within the hour, the power boots back up again and life on base returns mostly to normal. The only inconvenience seems to be a haphazardly thrown-together breakfast consisting of whatever could be made without power quickly. As the day goes on, observant characters may notice something amiss. They can catch some LILITH workers whispering to each other and there seem to be more agents in fancy suits roaming around.
If they find themselves in the right place, Outsiders may find that one of the many research labs on base is locked down and they won't be allowed to enter. If they ask one of the guards keeping watch, they will simply be told to move along. Asking some of the researchers or other workers in the area will reveal "something" happened during the power outage in the morning.
By evening, everyone's ocular implants will flash a quick notice:

|| MISSING PERSON
Name: Dr. Tanaka Junichiro
Role: LILITH Researcher.
Specialty: Genetic Research (Native Species and Kaiju)
Details: Latest available security footage depicts Dr. Tanaka stationed in their lab at LILITH Research Base. At 0735hrs on the morning of 2 March, a power disturbance struck all LILITH networks, resulting in all security monitoring systems within the area going offline briefly. After this disturbance was resolved, Dr. Tanaka was reported missing from their designated station under mysterious circumstances. Other resources missing from the base include: Research files and various live and deceased specimens.
Any clues on Dr. Tanaka's whereabouts are to be surrendered to LILITH immediately. Dr. Tanaka's primary research involved DNA splicing and induced evolution. Any information or clues regarding them or their work is highly valued. It is our top objective to ensure the safe return of our valuable staff members. ||
βΆ 003. CLAWS FOR CONCERN.
Shortly after the disappearance of Dr. Tanaka, Outsiders who wander the back alleys and keep an ear open will hear whispers of exotic animals and chimera being traded for meat, entertainment and pet ownership. Most of this talk will be heard near the biggest black market in Shinjuku, "Starlight X". It's a novelty within Neo Tokyo and word gets out quick, even if the residents are hush-hush about where they got their sources from. Photos of these hybrids show up on social media to the astonishment and skepticism of the citizens. To find Starlight X, Outsiders will have to travel underground, taking the term underground market quite literally. There is an entrance way in a nearby alley without too much security; with the lack of policemen, now, people might as well sell their illegal substances on the surface.
Once there, Outsiders will be able to discover a plethora of suspicious things for purchase: such as recreational drugs, performance-enhancing nanobots, assorted weapons (some legal and some not), unlabeled meats, the β¦ services of suspicious people, and a whole lot of junk. While visiting Starlight X, some of these creature hybrids even get loose and need to be captured before they draw too much attention. LILITH advises Outsiders to turn in any such specimens, live or dead, or put in a report immediately upon seeing them. Withholding such information or keeping a specimen for yourself may result in unwanted consequences if LILITH comes to find out.
These hybrids are generally small and mostly harmless, no doubt being traded for companionship and novelty. Cats that look like small lions or tigers, canaries with peacock feathers, frogs with wings, and so on (players may use their imagination).
Any further questions regarding Starlight X can be asked below.

βΆ 004. THE SAPPHIRE ROOM.
It becomes such a problem that LILITH can no longer ignore it. It's clear that someone - or a group of someones - have gotten their hands on LILITH's priceless specimens and data, and are testing the waters on what they can get away with. Allowing the public to get their hands on the smaller hybrids is one thing. According to word around the street, there's going to be an auction on the night of the 5th, and that's where the larger, more dangerous hybrids will be sold. Some even say you'll be able to find man-made monsters.
Closer to that date, LILITH decides to strike back to avoid further humiliation. With the help of their skilled informants, they've managed to secure the location, but ordering the Outsiders to storm the place like a military strike team just isn't an option. Said location is in a popular, bustling part of town, where the locals wine and dine. That would only cause panic and distrust amongst the people. The approach that's needed today ... is something more clandestine.
Outsiders will be briefed on the disguise and cover identity provided to them by LILITH, and temporarily granted a Style Upgrade to their chip to enable them to dress the part. (Players may make up their own cover identity for this mission. )
Hybrids within the auction include larger, more dangerous chimeras such as lion snapping-turtles, alligator-hippos, and snapping bears (among others). Smaller chimeras such as winged rabbits and seven-headed-snakes can also be found.
At the center of it all β¦ the main event: An actual Kaiju hybrid. At the center of the stage is a miniature version of the Shachimon whales that had sewn chaos across the sea just a month before. Sheβs much smaller than her full sized counterparts, only about as large as a dog. Itβs likely sheβs been bred down with native marine life to make her more tameable and less able to completely topple a boat with her strength.
This is what the auction-goers had come to see and hopefully purchase today. What they want a half-Kaiju for remains to be seen, but LILITH is not about to let just anyone get their hands on their specimens.
Outsiders undertaking this mission may wrangle and capture the hybrid creatures (most of which will be aggressive) and fight off or capture the auction staff. Most of the staff will be armed with guns and cybernetic enhancements (e.g. bionic arms with lasers attached). They can be questioned but not all of them are happy to answer. Unfortunately, the ringleaders will slip away in the chaos before anyone can capture them. A message from Captain Yamakawa projects into the implant late into the night (and if you were sleeping by this hour of 2 a.m, you're about to be woken up.)

|| MISSION: Infiltration of The Sapphire Room
LOCATION: The Sapphire Room, in Roppongi. A popular and exclusive nightclub serving a lavish experience to those who can afford it.
DETAILS: Sources reveal that The Sapphire Room, while a fully functioning club, has also been playing host to suspicious activities and trading in their exclusive underground rooms. An illegal auction is currently being held at the end of this week, which happens to be their Couples' Night. To gain access into this auction, Outsiders are to pair up and maintain appropriate cover. Information about your disguises have been downloaded into your chips.
OBJECTIVE:
β Infiltrate the secret auction occurring in The Sapphire Room as a pair.
β Disrupt the auction using any means possible.
β Capture hybrid specimens and surrender them to LILITH.
β Capture the perpetrators for questioning.
β Obtain any research data available and surrender it to LILITH. ||

"This is unacceptable. Angels of LILITH, please be on the lookout for the organizers of this crime. This kind of theft is unforgivable. We are investigating their identities, but any further information regarding those that got away is appreciated."
βΆ 005. SIMULATION.
While Outsider are given some time to rest and recover from their battle in February, it doesn't take long for their training to kick back up again. Outsiders will be summoned to the simulation room and instructed to put on their LILITH-issued plugsuits. They will be paired or put into groups for another battle simulation. After being ushed into the training grounds, the room will turn pitch black and a briefing sheet will be projected from their eye implant.
They will be able to access the briefing sheet at any time during the simulation by simply asking to see it. After each Outsider has read the mission brief, the simulation will begin, and they will find themselves in Singapore. The city is lively and all seems well and ordinary with civilians going about their daily lives. The weather is warm and sunny and it's a beautiful day.
Suddenly, screams break out from a nearby Hawker centre. A small group of civilians go on a rampage and begin chasing after the crowds. They move quickly but awkwardly as if they aren't in total control of their bodies. They try to attack other people in any way possible and cannot listen to reason. Rendering the disturbed civilians dead or unconscious will result in a large hornet emerging from a melted hole somewhere on the victim's body. The hornets must be destroyed before they possess another host. It isn't just the humans that can be taken over: Some of the suzume-bachi will infect the local animal life as well.
If you look around, there are still many people running around and curious onlookers trying to catch a peek inside. With so many hosts milling around, the suzume-bachi could be anywhere among us.

β β β MONSTER DEBRIEF SHEET:
NAME: SUZUME-BACHI
HEIGHT: 7.6-12 in.
WEIGHT: 2 kg
CLASS: UNKNOWN, CANNOT BE CLASSED.
THREAT LEVEL: MODERATE-SEVERE
LOCATION: Tropical climates with high humidity
ABILITIES: Parasitic and will enter a βhost bodyβ and try to gain control. Capable of entering other wildlife.
WEAKNESS: Ice (they cannot operate in cold climate), physical attacks.
EXTRA NOTES: Once they gain control over a lifeform, only rendering the host body unconscious will allow them to expose themselves. It is advised to kill them prior to have the entering ones body. The process of them latching on to take control is extremely invasive as they melt through skin to gain access to a body. Possessed bodies will behave aggressively and will try to lure others into areas of nesting for the SUZUME-BACHI. Highly protective of their hive and their βQUEENβ— please approach hives with caution and do not approach alone.
β β β MISSION OBJECTIVE:
β Identify humans and creatures being controlled by the SUZUME-BACHI.
β Rescue civilians and clear all wildlife of being possessed by the SUZUME-BACHI.
β Help move civilians to underground safety bunker.
β Protect safe zones from SUZUME-BACHI.
EXTRA NOTES: Every SUZUME-BACHI killed equals 1 KILL point, freeing those who are under its control is 1 ASSIST point, and getting civilians to the shelter will give 1 RESCUE point.

It can't be for a lack of trying on the parts of the Outsiders who have been here for months. If nobody knows, it's because LILITH isn't talking.]
I'm not arguing with you. I think it's worth taking a look. Maybe we'll find a clue.
[Or other people within their pods, waiting to be let out.]
So we'll start there. There's not much coverage, so the suzume-bachi will probably see us coming. We'll have to be fast.
no subject
LILITH hasn't told them everything, but they've been more willing to talk than most kidnapper stories you'd hear about. Generally they try to be transparent, but obviously keep the most important and sensitive things under wraps. This is one those things.]
Then lets get this shit over with.
[Bakugo heads the direction he indicates, slamming an explosion down to get to the rooftops via the launch. Landing atop one, he scans west, narrowed eyes looking for more signs of the hornets or worse. Only a few buildings until it's empty...]
How far can you launch your Air Bullets now?
no subject
His thoughts are cut off by Bakugo's question and his lips curl down into a frown. One thing hasn't changed between now and the last simulation that he took part in; the severe limit that's been placed on his quirk.]
I'm not sure about the exact distance. But it should be fine as long as I'm close enough to see the nest.
[It would be an effective way to disrupt the nest, maybe even destroy it depending on its size, and keep a safe distance.]
Keep an eye out for anyone being led away from safety. They'll lead us to the nest.
no subject
Seeing the frown out the corner of his eye is proof enough. It wouldn't have changed from then to now either if he's been in stasis the entire time. Bakugo flicks his gaze forward to the flatter expanse beyond the scant row of buildings before them. Another next out there... At least in that direction.]
We took out everyone down there. [As well as the bugs. Leaving one alive would be necessary to start a lure. They'll either have to wait for someone to get possessed again, or...] They came from this direction.
[And jumps forward, intent on going after the bugs. Impatient as ever.]
no subject
They cross a couple of rooftops with ease before Izuku comes to a sudden stop. They're near the end of the line of buildings now, and close enough to the nest to hear the unmistakable buzzing sound of wings flapping, similar to that of a bee or normal hornet. With so many of them grouped together, it's a hard sound to miss. And it sounds so close by...
Izuku slowly approaches the edge of the roof and looks down. Within the shadows of the building across the street from them, a large rounded mass hangs suspended underneath a balcony. If it weren't for the noise and flurry of movement as suzume-bachi enter and exit they might have missed it from their vantage point.]
Alright, we found the nest. [He stretches out and curls up his fingers a couple of times as a warm up.] I should be able to make the shot from this distance just fine. I just don't know how many shots I can fire at a time. If it takes more then two the blast will set whatever suzume-bachi are unharmed after us.
no subject
Izuku's smart. Bakugo can count on him to think, react, adapt, and act successfully no matter what happens. He drops down on the last rooftop before the flat run of terrain. Shit... The noise is obvious. Approaching the edge of the building, Bakugo looks down at the nest below them. Ugh, that's as disgusting as normal hornet nests.]
No shit, Deku. [Anything else obvious he wants to point out? Bakugo lifts one arm slightly and looks at his Grenadier Bracer. 3/4 a tank. More than enough to waste the entire hive and any surrounding bugs, though the building it's under is going to have a chunk taken out of it. Tch- that'll lose some points. But if Izuku snaps it off the stem or smashes it, that'll play out like the movies, where the whole swarm will burst free. Those that survived...]
I'll take them all out at once. [He lifts his arm, indicating his gear.]
no subject
Okay. I'll look out for any activity coming this way.
[He doesn't expect much else to come this way, but it's still too early to let their guard down just yet. The damages to the building will just be an unfortunate casualty to finishing off the nest quickly.]
no subject
He levels his arm, hand down and the point of his bracer aimed to the hive below them. With a flick of his hand to disengage the safety lock, Bakugo pulls the firing pin, igniting the area within a massive explosion that roars forward and slams into the hive below. Like the first time he did that during their initial battle in U.A., the recoil's intense, but he weathers it easily. The building groans in the wind and pressure, but stands strong, while the other one's left ravaged.
No more fucking hornets.]
Do you have access to all your Quirks, or only some?
[As the rubble starts to settle, the sound of fighting to the east drifts into earshot.]
no subject
I noticed last time that my Danger Sense seemed to be gone. Either that, or it's so muted that I don't feel it anymore. Everything else seems to be normal. It's just...weaker.
[He can't reach above 30% of his abilities across the board. While he's by no means weak against most opponents, it's less impressive when placed against an actual kaiju.
When the sounds of fighting reaches his ears, his head snaps around to fast eastward.]
Something is going on over there. Let's check it out!
[He takes off in a burst of speed, taking a leap off the side of the roof and lifting into the air.]
no subject
Consider it weaker or muted unless it's obvious it's gone. [Meaning give it a month or two and then see what happens. Katsuki's Quirk had been weakened, but he hadn't lost anything. And perhaps as a bonus, his gear was brought with him, even though his bracers and panzer were destroyed in the war. Not questioning it. When dimensional travel's a thing, fuck it.
Izuku's announcement only barely edges out Katsuki noticing and he quickly follows, annoyed Izuku got the jump on him and quickly striving to catch up to him. Even at 30%, Izuku's still fast and strong. No wonder LILITH brought him...]
More of these fucking bugs...
no subject
And if it's not? Is there a chance it will come back? [There's a comfort to that, at least. If it's true. Izuku has started from scratch before, and he can do it again. And 30% is far from starting all over again.
He's vigilant in the air, keeping his ears open to the sounds of fighting and letting them guide him to their destination. Whatever is happening seems to be drawing the attention of the remaining bugs, as droves of them begin to appear in the sky, heading in the same direction.
Seeing the opportunity for some target practice, he folds his index finger back with his thumb and quickly releases an air shot in the direction of the bugs. It hits its target, sending one of the bugs toppling down to the ground.]
There's a lot more attention being focused over here. Maybe this is the hive that houses the Queen? [He fires off a couple more shots in rapid succession.]
no subject
Some Outsiders lost some abilities or powers in the transfer they can't get back. And LILITH fucked up even worse by bringing some without the tools they needed to access their abilities. [Summoners with no summons, dueslists with no decks, swordsmen with no swords, etc. Bakugo's not very forgiving towards them for bungling it up so bad in those cases.
He glances up when the sound of humming and buzzing starts to break into the snap of Blackwhip and the bursts of Explosion as well as the growing din of combat. Damn bugs are already coming towards the new hunting ground. Which reveals itself to be a main street full of people. It's like a madhouse down there, civilians attacking others or running around dazed from an assault.
Bakugo glances back when Izuku snaps off an air shot and hitting one of the hornets. Well that's one down...]
If it is, it's hidden well! [He twists around and fires off an AP Machine Gun, piercing hot rounds into the swarm approaching them.]
no subject
Whatever method they're using to bring us here seems to be a bit faulty. They can't be doing that to people deliberately when they're relying on us to be strong.
[But he's going to have to hold that thought as their time to talk comes to an end. He leaps to the side in the air, opening up room between them so Bakugo can safely fire his rounds, and also to split up the swarm coming towards them. Half of the bugs move after Izuku, who keeps firing off air rounds, now two at a time, until some of the bugs get close enough to be slapped away with Blackwhip like a tentacly fly swatter.]
Should we split up to search for the hive? [Not to attack it alone, just to locate it. Things are looking even worse down below, but Izuku spots a few Outsiders beginning to appear and join the fray. They can help the civilians while the two of them put an end to the nest.]

No shit, Deku!
[Considering the state of Neo Tokyo, a contrast between ravaged and flourishing, faulty technology isn't hard to imagine. He wanted to call it desperation, but the repeated use of that technique says otherwise. More people are coming...
Bakugo throws a glance to Izuku, watching the mixture of air bullets and black tendrils take swaths out of the swarm. A crowd of people below them are already in the throes of violence and panic as the possessed go after the innocent. He lands atop a building, takes aim, and starts firing AP Shots towards the crowd. One shot a piece, sniping the aggressors on the head with enough concussive force to drop them.]
If you find it, give a signal!
[He trusts Izuku to figure out what kind of signal would get his attention and convey that message.]

But after awhile of constantly being met with swarms of bugs in the air, and thrashing bodies below, Izuku quickly realizes that he's not going to be able to do much searching if he's always being cornered by a new opponent. Changing plans, he begins to move away from the center of the chaos, dipping through alley pathways to reach the next section of streets. Staying on the ground allows him to blend into the crowd, making him less noticeable. But that doesn't stop him from picking up a few foes on his trail, a couple of bugs and a possessed captive, each of which he takes down without a problem.
Everything seems quiet and deserted, until he follows an alley down and nearly exposes himself to a row of possessed civilians standing together, blocking another alleyway across the street. He hurriedly backs up and quickly takes in as much detail as he can. The alley they're blocking is shadowed in darkness, so he can't see anything clearly. But they're definitely guarding something. This could be it.
He recalls what Bakugo had said about a signal, and if he's expecting a showy display of some sort, he's going to be disappointed when he receives a text message from the ocular implant.]
@ deku
Two blocks northwest from the fighting. I've found something.

He avoids the crowds below by searching from the air, eyes burning down into the streets and alleys below to try and pick out anything of interest. Mostly where some possessed people might be dragging other unwilling or unconscious 'hosts' towards, or where the concentration of bugs are going towards or coming from. He can't take down all the possessed, mostly because he has to use them to track down a potential direction, but that doesn't mean he can't remove most of them. Only needs one to lead...
No, he didn't expect something showy. Maybe a blackwhip tendril in the air or a jet of smokescreen (if Izuku can even do it in a focused stream...) but instead, he gets a blink of a text in the corner of his eye. Growling at the distraction, Katsuki accepts the comment and it's only a few seconds before the telltale booms approach the area.]
@ Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight
I'm above you. Want me to take them out?

But watching the guards ends up being fruitless, as they don't move an inch. By the time he hears the familiar booming of Bakugo's blasts, he's ready to leap into action.]
@ deku
Yes. I'll get by them while you distract them. I'll meet you in that alley.
[He presses himself close to the wall, peering around its edge, and waits for his opportunity.]

One after another, he fires an AP Shot straight down, taking into account the distance and location. Each "beam" of explosive energy slams into a guard's head, dropping them one by one in quick succession. But he can't do every one in the alley and has to snap off another explosion to cut his descent and land on a roof nearby.
Hopefully Izuku took the aerial raid to get in...]

Izuku whirls around with two fingers cocked back by his thumb, and quickly aims his air blasts at the guard's head. It's enough to stun and knock them down.
No longer being tailed, he continues further into the alley at a slow pace, ears straining for the tell-tale buzzing that will tell him he's close. He pauses about half-way down, when he finally picks up the sound of activity ahead. It's time to wait for back-up.]

Meaning Katsuki gets to start sniping them off the damn supports. He keeps his blasts held back, not wanting to injure these people, even if they are starting to piss him off. Fucking hornet zombies!]
Did you find it yet?
