Hello Outsiders, and welcome to this roundβs CR meme and OOC intro post for new players and characters. CHARACTER: Hajime Hatsutori
CANON & CANON POINT: Cell of Empireo, following Rai and Minoru's marriage announcement on 4/29/1985, but before the rat incident on 5/9/1985 - AKA, before everything goes downhill really really fast. This makes Hatsutori better in some ways, and worse in others! Exciting.

CHARACTER BLURB:
As a heads up, Hatsutori and what's up with him is Cell of Empireo spoilers, for anyone who happens to want to play this obscure game. You've been warned!
The shard of a faux angel, founder of a Catholic cult (rooted in Dante's Divine Comedy), and a scientific wonder whose cells sometimes give super powers but usually turn people into Silent Hill monsters, Hatsutori is a devout believer who truly, genuinely loves other people, and he wants to save them, but this runs contrary to the nature of what he is - an allegorical Lucifer figure, a source of calamity, and magnet for tragedy. He fears this truth about himself and overcompensates by trying to be Extra Good (tm), but his view of the world and relationship with people can vacillate between unrealistically idealized and awfully bleak.
Hatsutori cares for people in a broad and vague sense. He wants to save them, but he doesn't really understand them, and he doesn't really understand himself. He doesn't have a strong sense of who he is or what he wants, so he's always looking to others for guidance, imprinting on them, and synthesizing their offhand comments into his alien understanding of the world.
He's both certain of his righteousness, emotionally fragile, and mentally unstable, particularly at this canon point. When he gets excessively overwhelmed or distressed, he sometimes makes things or people explode (and/or other things). His skillset is literally "can do anything" (with a handful of restrictions), so those powers going haywire can be. fun!
When he's at rest / chill, though, his I Do What I Want Dot Jpeg powers means he can act as support, DPS, tank, and provide utility. He usually just uses the utility aspect and he's never actually fought before, but this is just a general note that I'm happy to use his powers as a contrivance / device for anything you may need, please feel free to hit me up :} I like enabling fun RP for other people!

α¦ Do you need an airheaded friend, listening ear, someone who will probably accept you regardless of your proclivities*? Hatsutori is your grapevine. He really doesn't judge, mind, or care. He's chill, it's chill, you're chillin'. (*Unfortunately, he will not be understanding if you think God(s) is/are bad or divinity sucks, but he's not the type to pick fights in most situations.)
α¦ Are you a nerd? Hatsutori is, too, lowkey. He usually reads books on world religions and the occult, but he reads extensively on all kinds of things - science, medicine, engineering, politics, you name it.
α¦ Do you need someone who will do something with or for you? He likes helping. Hatsutori is probably down to help with whatever shenanigans you have in mind, even if he doesn't know you at all, whether you rope him in or ask. You don't even need to explain, he will probably just say yes.
α¦ Do you need some weirdo contrivance for something you want to do? Hatsutori's powers can probably enable that. I'm completely fine with saying his powers went off on accident or something that results in your hopes and dreams coming true.
α¦ He has no actual massage therapy experience (he's fine with trying it, but he'd have no clue what he's doing lmao), but he can actually get your character to physically relax if your character is willing and needs it. Or he can make them feel worse but like. only if you want that and/or think it'd be funny

HI I'M NEW so literally anything!!! Any and all CR would be great! Positive, negative, contentious, complex, casual, silly... Thank you all for threading with my weirdo so far and I'm excited tag even more people...... There are various things that could be interesting to do with Hatsutori but I think it'd only really be fun after I get him settled in and start building up CR. please let him in he can be normal

ABOUT YOU: I mostly like to post about my RP and my knitting/crochet projects, but I also teach piano, garden, and volunteer with the Girl Scouts! I love to play weirdos and make them do dumb stuff in RP.

CANON & CANON POINT: Critical Role, after Campaign 1

CIVILIAN NAME & OCCUPATION: Gary Jumbo, sales clerk at a gaming and merchandise store.
CHARACTER BLURB: High-intelligence, low-wisdom artificer with a magic robot sidekick that was his only friend before joining Vox Machina. Taryon is a rich nerd who went full Don Quixote and left home to be an adventurer, only to get some Character Development and learned how to be a better person. Nowadays he's offering his magic engineering skills and getting excited over anime and tabletop gaming. He's a support caster, so he's always offering to build things for other characters or boost their stats.
He's been in Neo Tokyo for two years, but only remembers one year since he died and was resurrected without his memories many missions ago, but he tells everyone he's doing okay. He's dating Astarion, which he will gladly tell anyone who hangs around Taryon a few times.

CR YOU'D LIKE TO INCORPORATE: Other folks who want to do some gaming or tabletop of talk about books! He needs to geek out more often. He needs to hang out with younger folks and try to be cool around them. And I'd like to do some more combat teamups!
CR YOU COULD OFFER: He wants to do some more magic infusions into equipment, so if you need a reason for your character to approach him, we can work something out. Taryon used to be a nerd who didn't leave his room often, so he's down for all sorts of socializing and intricate hobbies.

PLANS & GOALS: Tary has been reading up on Norse mythology thanks to the clues they uncovered, so I'd like him to assist on any research with this month's event. Otherwise, I'm open to anything.
