Hello!

With all the clues and questions for what's going on in the new event it seemed like a good idea to throw together a post for us all to discuss OOCly so no one missed out!

This is a post for us to to:

Yuta in his Neo-Tokyo AU life:

Known as Yuta Sugawara, EMT & medical personnel for LILITH who he is a staunch supporter of

Sort of living the wifeguy life with his fiancee Rika (who is currently looking like a teen!version of Rika Orimoto thanks to the cloaking device Yuta got her last month responding to his subconscious wishes) who he does not know is actually a cursed spirit, she's just been a bit Strange since a childhood accident and got crazy strong thanks to the nanobot injections that saved her life. Yuta's just weirdly compelled to never take his engagement ring off for some reason. (It has Rika's cloaking device installed on it.)

Rika does have her real memories but she doesn't know any better than to just play along since her boy seems happy (will recognize others as their real selves tho)

They've got a weird codependent trio/shoujo-esque love drama thing going on with their childhood friend "Tasuke" (Muramasa)

Thanks to Tasuke and his delinquent ties, Yuta has also been tangentially involved in a more questionable crowd (the good influence/go to medic guy who won't snitch so long as you're on good terms with his friends) so that is a potential in for other characters' AU backstories too

Does know how to fight, being one of Geto's martial arts students & good with a sword, but primarily considers himself a medic first and foremost, here to support Rika & Tasuke and the cause

Familiar face to anyone who's had medbay dealings in the past few months, especially since he was there a lot re: the Underworld plot, and will still recognize patients regardless of AU

I posted this on Plurk, but I'm ALWAYS happy to add more fun AU stuff!

- Silco *will* have supplanted his canon struggle from canon into this earth, so there will still be heavy themes of class disparity in his current plans, but he is MUCH more focused on corporations (and is NOT A DRUG LORD??)(my word)
-Still has a history of mining and tried to improve things BUT
- In the Neo Tokyo AU he injured his eye trying to escape a kaiju attack at some point when he was working in like idk silicon mining or something
- Probably the mine they were at was under attack and the corporate security abandoned them bc i LOVE a little extra trauma
- Has memories of people from his past, but they're either gone in a kaiju attack or philosophical differences split them up (we know who)
- Explicitly, he's kinda moved away from anyone in his past bc LILITH offered him funding and support to help take down the corporate structure (he expects they'll go back on this)
- Which is why he's investing heavily in the criminal structure in Neo-Tokyo to use them against corps as a backup. he's still a bookeeper.
- He's not nice, but nic-er??? Less Fucked up in general
- Still Jinx's (or Powder's) dad because some things are constant in this world
- Still seeing Verg and we'll see how weird they are without brainworms (fond)(it's VERY weird)
- I think he's taken on an informal mentoring (lbr it's just dading) in the form of making up "jobs" to give the upstart kids skipping school or getting into trouble or who bother him or w/e
- He thinks his shimmer injections are from LILITH. He doesn't know he has doses stashed in his mechanical hand to help, but I have funny ideas for how we can dispense if desired for a kaiju fight

Muramasa in the Neo-Tokyo-verse:

Known as Tasuke Masamura (it just sounds like everyone calling him "Muramasa" is being an asshole but it's kind of close, right?), former teen delinquent and hooligan now working for LILITH as a combatant after scoring well on some aptitude tests and receiving a possibly unwise amount of augmentation, including the surgery he came out of literally the day before everyone was called to England.

Past full of General Delinquent activities. mostly fights. a lot of fights. almost all fights, with AU Yuji being a scourge against bullies.

Those fighting tendencies lead up to An Incident where he almost got thrown into ~~the pit~~ an open manhole after losing a 4 on 1 fight and Silco intervened, taking him in kind of as one of those Teens. Getting paid under the table to do some shifty but technically legal errands, and he's so rude but he keeps coming back, so... outdoor cat energy. (One day, Silco will catch him in the cat carrier and take him to the vet to become a Real Communist.)

Has a twin brother (Shirou) who he was separated from as a small child and recently reunited with... which might have something to do with his sudden interest in gainful employment.

After joining LILITH, he signed up for a series of nanobot injections and augmentations, giving him some pretty impressive physical stats even though some people close to him had reservations about the drastic measures. Eventually got the K.O. on the Kabus in Egypt thanks to his high stamina and strength.

Generally a rude but forthright teammate, typical Everlight kind of person. Keeps breaking his swords that LILITH gives him. Does actually usually wear shirts, believe it or not?

Anyone who is friends with or knows Yuta (and Rika!) definitely knows "Tasuke" by sight alone, since they are frequently Seen Around Each Other. (The Pear Wiggler Of Codependency and Shoujo Tropes)

Muramasa, by virtue of already being a ghost with a couple other spirits stuffed inside him, is aware that "Tasuke" is fake and made of fake memories, but will not break kayfabe for those genuinely in the AU. He's doing his best to LARP based on those memories (and sometimes even just let the Tasukesona do the driving, if he's not paying close attention). Muramasa is no longer the one driving the body. Going by his LILITH-assigned name Gary Jumbo, Taryon left his wealthy family to go strike out on his own. At some point, he was rescued from falling into a rift by AU Vash, after which he joined LILITH.

Without the experience of nearly dying multiple time back home, it's been taking longer for reality to sink into Taryon's head, and he's more boastful and overconfident here. He has not lost much of his Rich Boy Upbringing yet.

He does not recognize Doty, so the automaton is out of commission for this mission.

I decided at the last minute to swerve and not AU Tsurumaru. Instead, he's going to be pretending he's AU'ed and going along with things and he may or may not be helpful until he has to lock in for real. Is he AU'ed? Is he OU'ed? Who knows.

But here is his basic AU history:

Gonna keep his name the same because I keep forgetting I wanted to change it lmao sorry

Family was killed in a kaiju attack and he was passed around to other family members/friends until he eventually settled

Joined LILITH to protect others

Is a reliable and competent agent/tactician. Has a reckless streak, tho. 100% will go on a suicide mission.

Still kind of a weirdo but something something something he was a theater kid growing up and majored in classical Japanese lit with a focus on something niche and his past was rough so give him a break???

Still likes to menace/prank people for the love of the game

Despite everything, he's still way more normal than his OU version

Engaged to Aki still! They're planning their wedding.

I'm flexible with everything else!

Anyway, this will be Tsuru... pretending to be an AU when he's actually an OU but he's definitely an AU so please trust him guys. Or maybe don't. He doesn't trust himself either.

Dante isn't AU'd, but if anyone wants to go off of the life they could have lived in Neo Tokyo...

Dante was brought on shortly after the first Imugi attack. Their memory was lost due to a mix of the attack itself and a bad case of rift poisoning, so they joined LILITH to see if working against the kaiju and studying the rifts might eventually help bring their memory back.

Was quiet and withdrawn to start off with, but has been slowly gaining confidence with each mission. Though not to the degree that OU Dante is at. (For those canon aware, closer to SEA level rather than post Canto 7).

Has shown special promise as a strategist for smaller groups.

Just as much of a workaholic in the AU as in the current universe

I have no idea how to explain the clock in this universe. Maybe it was always there? Open to suggestions.

Honestly we're probably just going to have to go with that....

If Dr. Spim can be a cat, Dante can be a clock.

She's OU, but here's what the AUs think:

Jessie Kirk, shrine maiden.
-She runs her shrine in Neo Toyko for some obscure gods.
-She recently joined LILITH. The reason was to help her get over a breakup with a childhood friend who wouldn't admit that he was her boyfriend, but she hasn't said much more than that about it.
-OOC, I am open to whatever connections the AUs want to have with her- family, friends, rivals, coworkers, etc.

Ereshkigal in the AU-verse:

- A LILITH veteran specializing in survival and Kaiju hunting.
- She had retired and moved to a small house with her wife, Fitsuka Rujimaru, but disaster struck when said wife was eaten up by a Kaiju.
- Following this tragedy, she took on chain-smoking along with a cold and distant attitude.
- She returned to LILITH determined to look for her wife, even if everyone is convinced she's dead.
- Nobody knows her real name, she's only known as "Die-Hardwoman."
- She wields a katana shaped like a guitar that can double as a rail gun.
- After each Kaiju battle, she slices up their stomach to look for any signs of her wife.

- An AU directed by Hideo Kojima

Raidou is NOT AU but here's how you can slip him into your character's backstory.

🞂 Orphaned as a baby due to a kaiju attack. He joined LILITH to help protect others from the same fate.
🞂 He was taken in by the family who runs the local inari shrine (where non-AU him works). He's on his way to being a priest, but his family has been trying to get him to pursue a medical career. Helps take care of the shrine's grounds and gardens.
🞂 Related, in LILITH he is known for helping more out in the medical bay, greenhouse and administratively than for fighting.
🞂 However, he's known for his athletics (a speed skater), his speed and agility getting him by in battle.
🞂 Still dating AU-Yuji.
🞂 Definitely not a swordsman, a devil summoner, or a guy from alternate Taisho era Japan! But definitely still quiet, shy, a man of action instead of words.

She won't be part of the AU group, but here's something in case y'all want to incorporate in some way!

Born with Fujikami as the main (and only) family, compared to the original where there was both a main clan with a branch family.
Comes from a long line of aikido practitioners; the specific style is only known by members of the Asagami family, their signature moves incorporating body twisting techniques evocative of a distortion.
Naturally, she's captain of the aikido club at her school.
Goes to a rich private academy, except this one is much nearer and located somewhere in Neo-Tokyo.
Felt helpless every time she heard news about kaiju attacks and decided to join LILITH a few months back because she refused to stay feeling like that.
Just a tad bit flighty and peppy compared to original, though only when she really opens up to people she likes.
...sometimes does this after a huge, exciting festival or a successful mission...
Whatever else you can think of? Go nuts.

Godzilla will be remaining his normal self but here's some au details for the fun of it:

- Dr. Goji Serizawa teaching at Neo-Tokyo University as usual, but with a side-career as a kaiju field biologist working for LILITH.

- Weird guy. Constant advocate for less violent approaches to the Kaiju Menace, thinks they can be negotiated with. Doesn't get along with some other LILITH staff because of this.

- Currently working on Project Livyatan, a device meant to allow for communication and control of kaiju through usage of soundwaves and subsonic frequencies. It Is Not Going Well.

- Uses a sword and firearm for self defense in the field and often helps younger recruits learn to use them too. Teaches a style less about finesse and technique and more about exploiting any leverage, trick, or advantage to finish a fight quick and efficiently. (This often involves "Challenge human opponents to a fair duel and when they square up, just shoot them."

- Currently Engaged.

- Always been human, not named Donatello but his LILITH cover name of Shiki Hamato.
- Childhood frands with Hunter!
- Has a family, but possibly lost at least a family member to a kaiju attack at some point which lead to him helping with LILITH.
- Wasn't one for field work until recently, mostly a tech guy also yanno. His age of being 16-17 probably was a reason for that.
- Has the cybernetic left arm, but got it because of wanting to help fight kaiju instead of losing it as he did in reality.
- has a distrust of non-human outsiders/LILITH members, due to a run in with one of them that went poorly. (possibly Kaga?)
- Still a tech guy.

- AU Power is Power (real name Pawa, 'Power' is a nickname) Hayakawa, adopted younger sister of Aki, adopted sibling to Denji!
- Her parents died in a kaiju attack when she was a little kid
- She looooves fighting kaiju, and is balancing part-time kaiju fighting with high school (she gets terrible grades and would rather goof off in class)
- she is still an absolute gremlin, but one who only rants about humanity in an edgy teen kind of way
- Notably, she doesn't speak like an olde-timey person! This will probably weird out anyone who has had a passing conversation with her regular self.

I am not doing an open starter so it will have to be a custom tl from me dawg if we wanna discuss it

yuji found some swords in the garrison that had a weird hilt that was like ivory. he asked peepaw (muramasa not silco) about it who said it could be bone!!

As a bonus, I asked about the graveyard record keeping, and got some interesting names to look into: Gwen, Eustace, Susie, Lucia, Morgan, Peter, Jill, Eadmund, Arthur, and Lance are some recurring names. Most of them seem to be generals, militia, or workers. Eadmund used to visit with Gwen but he seems to have stopped suddenly early on.

Gwen talked to Raleigh about himself and about a brother that she had once, that she thought she'd forgotten.

It would make sense if he's related to the loss vibe that Muramasa felt.

Taryon found a tapestry in the library that depicts hunters going after a unicorn, killing it, and presenting a horn to a nobleman and woman.

"Going very far back in the history of England highlights that the strange memory affliction that has hit some of the Outsiders is not an uncommon one: throughout time there have been reports of strange confusion in recollection, emotional outbursts and delirious happiness from the population of the Castle. The rest of England seemed mostly unaffected."

Anyone who does the "propaganda" assignment in the event can find some clues about the rebels! Their symbol appears to be a lion (which makes sense given the kaiju reveal that just went up) and they can find some ominous warnings/text.

Civilians talking about a “pride” of kaiju that they can’t seem to wipe out, but they think they’re now getting close to a final victory. Leading to speculation of the ~~sexual orientation~~ nature of the kaiju.

"Research into the kaiju reveals that there have been various missions over time to find and defeat it, with various levels of success. Historians note that there seems to be one kaiju remaining now, though looking at the illustrations of the kaiju throughout the centuries-long fight shows many similarities between all the encounters."

Additional mod clarification: There's not a significant amount of specific details beyond notes that this kaiju has been fought many times before. There are frequent references to the name, and the image and notes mentioned in Gwen's notes on the kaiju post, but there's nothing specific. Alongside that, there are no names, locations, casualties, etc, just dates over the last handful of decades recording encounters with the kaiju. The locations are all the same, which is the forest mentioned, and Gwen's family seal appears as record keeper.

I haven't had a chance to IC it out yet but this is what Raph got here:

"When riding horses around the Outskirts of the castle, a few things become noticeable: they are wary of any kind of forest, jumpy near the wild animals and will often refuse to cross running water. Otherwise, they’re perfectly tamed and tempered steeds."

OOC brainbugging: There's actually a demon/horse from...I think Norway or Scotland that doesn't like water - that's really obscure though so not sure if it has anything to do with this or if the horses are just enchanted to stay away from the forest and stuff but I may include it when I get a top level done shortly.

Otherwise they're probably just normal horses going 'wtf is in the forest no' but COULD YOU IMAGINE??? neato.

So uh.

Godzilla's going to talk to the kaiju. Like, flat out refuse to actually fight and march out there in all his spikey, glowing lizardiness to square up and talk to it face to face. He's not going to be talked out of this one I don't think, but if anyone wants to keep the human rebels off his back while he does it (or try to pull him back) they're welcome to it.

But yeah, if this kaiju can talk, then maybe they can reason with it. Maybe it's not the thing that's hurting the land, and it's been suffering because of the lack of food and life in the place it lives.

Jessica has got her magic that could heal Godzilla if anyone tries to take him down while he's talking, and she's got one spell that can make someone run from battle, so if the locals try to interfere, she can do her best to send them off non-violently.

Surprise, Jessica, it's a belligerent gecko.

Godzilla will very much appreciate and readily accept Jessica's help! He's well aware this is a potentially Bad and Unpopular idea so he'll take any support he can get here. ~~except from shinn~~

Tsuru has talked a little bit about counter-attack plans with some characters here! And he also summarized/combined some of the current IC suggestions here if anyone wants to chime in.

Tsuru thinks the rebel humans might be mind-controlled/manipulated into following the kaiju. Since Syn is full of compassionate and sensitive heroes, he thinks it would be a good idea to reduce injuries/casualties.

The main problem is they don't have enough information about the rebels. Tsuru found some clues that they might be serving a lion and while this might not be super obvious IC, we know OOC this is right so we just have to get there IC.

The most common plans suggested IC so far are:
- Send a small group ahead to get information about the rebels
- Reduce the rebel numbers. Leo can probably warp some of them away!

I summarized/threw something together this time because I'm free but I'm getting ready to travel abroad next week and I live in a whack timezone so everyone else go wild lmao....... Feel free to agree/disagree with Tsuru!
