Hellooooo Synflux!

As things wind down for the holiday season, I'll be kickstarting a long-term player plot focused on cleaning up the crime scene in Neo Tokyo! The goal is to create tangible changes to the setting. Whether it ends up as a net positive, net negative, a little of column A or column B is up to you!

Depending on interest and turnout, it's possible for this to go on well into the new year as we tackle more issues over time; there's no set end date or predetermined direction, but thanks to the mods, they have given me two NPCs to work with to facilitate the effort.

OBJECTIVES
For now, there will be two primary objectives to tackle:

Taking down a supplier for the Sapphire Room &
Fundraising for the victims of the fallout

Your character(s) can participate in either, both, or neither, it's entirely up to you. If you need a "how," there'll be an agency of sorts recruiting for this exact effort or you can assume your character has heard about it through the grapevine.

QUEST I.
This quest focuses on nitty gritty take down of a mid-tier gang involved in drug dealing, blackmail, theft, and other crimes, continuing from the last TDM. Players can investigate, infiltrate, or fight the gang as they see fit; any captured members must be turned over to LILITH. Whether your character prefers to go undercover or take them head-on, the possibilities are wide open. The associated quest is Street Fighter.

QUEST II.
Here, characters can create their own fundraising initiatives to support families and individuals affected by the gang's actions. To start us off, the "agency" will organise two official events: a charity tournament and a reality competition series, with all proceeds going toward those in need and the rebuilding effort. The associated quest for this one is Rise and Thrive, though not all proceeds will go to this player plot if your character has other priorities!

The tournament will be a no-powers, raw-skill brawl. Characters can approach it with as much (or as little) seriousness as they like!! Ever want to fight the lovely Miss Gebura herself?? This is your CHANCE. Any feats of superhuman strength can be chalked up as cybernetic enhancements. As for the reality competition series, it'll follow a similar format as the dating games back in summer except that it'll follow feats of fitness both solo or with a group.

FUTURE OPPORTUNTIES
Contingent on engagement, the other NPC the mods have provided is one with potential ties to Neo Tokyo's political landscape, so this plot may expand in intriguing ways! Don't feel limited by what I've laid out in this post explicitly. However your character might want to tackle both issues, please use this post to discuss how your character might want to change the setting and what their greater objectives might be if they'll want to team up with others!!

Do they care about the minors who have gotten mixed up in all of this and want to improve their QoL? Do they want to take advantage of the potential power vacuums to become the new (and improved??) crime lord? Want your extended undercover agent arc? This is your chance…!! The world is your oyster!!

For a fun future consequence, it's also possible for them to be reprimanded by LILITH personally if their efforts start to conflict with their mission performance.

Hewwo everyone, I am sure it comes as no surprise!! But I am very interested in using Silco as a part of this plot!! I've already had him working with the previous black market side quest, and fully intend to use the Street Fighter quest to help BOTH facilitate this plot, but his overall aim is to help create a power vacuum to help slot in nicely in the underworld once the competition is out of the way. Will this make the underworld worse? It's... possible... don't worry about it. (Or do!) Essentially, I'm just aiming for the criminal element, and Silco wants to give them "proper" (no) direction because he thinks they're too scattered rn.

He's also looking to have your characters help him do this! 🙂

I posted this on my cr meme post a little bit, but I am happy to chat about how that could fits into what everyone else wants to do, and work with everyone as well! I'm going to plan on having some prompts as part of the mingle log / I'm more than happy to set up a starter on the open post as well!

I can be super flexible with these, I think it's fun to either go in and infiltrate or just investigate the gang. Silco isn't a fighter, but if yours is, I'm happy to have him serve as a "guide" of sorts to get your character in if that's something you're interested in as well. I can kinda justify a lot for this so I can defer to whatever it is you want to do with it! However he will want to use the opportunities provided, in case your character is going to feel really bad about it — which I'll be real I'm 100% fine with! Backstabbing is just a part of the life.

hi!! i crawled in to say i am here for this... instead of it being planned on his part though, it would be funny if he were just dragged into it somehow and then sees silco. they both work together so they can finish this up and go home

on the bright side, callisto will not feel bad about anything

Belatedly sliding in my own comment after Jill, but as far as Elysium goes, he'll mostly be acting as an informant! His current civilian job is as a bartender in both upscale and seedier neighbourhoods, so I've been using that as justification for his intel beyond sticking his nose where it shouldn't be. I think it'd be fun have IC discussions how they're going to go about changing things for the better (because that's what his motivations for this are!) or even have discussions with other reconnaissance-prone characters, but I am perfectly fine with just jumping into the fray as well.

I'm particularly interested in the investigative aspects of Street Fighter! High stakes stealth and infiltration missions are one of my favourite things to write with all the potential for injuries and tension, so really when I wrote that part about extended undercover agent arcs I was just talking about me. I'll be writing an open top-level at some point regarding infiltrating a host club! But if you'd like to plot anything beyond that, I'm here.

As for Rise and Thrive… thigh wrestling… anyone… Help me.

In general, Elysium's focus will be on trying to dismantle the high school gangs as well as organising initiatives to reintegrate them back into society. So he'll be looking into things like social housing and community centres! As a side note, Wriothesley was one of the characters he'd started this with… Doing it For Him fr.

I would love to get to do something with Elysium for the plot!! I've got two ideas I think that might work well!
#1! How would you feel about maybe a stealth mission at idk a little casino to try and learn something about the gang? I'm thinking it could be fun to play with like a remote mission where Ely is doing the face work and Silco's helping him on the underground stuff? Since he's so... recognizable he can't get too involved directly :')

#2! Alternatively, we could have them have a discussion on how to make things better (oh no...) especially if he's trying to help manipulate things a little bit to create said power vacuum or something. 🤔

No, thank you for your support!! Me biding my time to get the best possible kickoff with Silco and I see it was well worth it… I loooooove spy/agent shit especially when there's a handler involved, so sign me right up if that's what you were putting down esp since I've been having him mingle with that crowd already.

Tangentially related, his canon does deal with a fair amount of reformed baddies and war criminals coming together in trying to make their world a better place, so!!! Even if Silco does ping him as a little off or whatever else, if there's some kind of progress… that's better than no progress… (no…) We'll find you a leaf you can call your own to turn yet (even more no)

I personally love the idea of increasing stakes, so their first mission together could be one that's on the lighter side to test the waters? easy peasy

Shinn can get knocked out R1 and Elysium can buy him a popsicle or something because he insists on their almost non-existent age gap (he'll remember the old man comment for the rest of his life)

Hello friends! As previously stated many times on my plurk, I'm here to get Izou involved in the on-going crime-related player plot in an intimate way. His previous civilian job involved being a part-time clerk of a 7-10 at night, where protecting it from the occasional group of hooligans looking to ransack the store ended up landing him his current civilian job: part-time "enforcer" and bouncer for a club whose management may have tenuous ties to the many gangs that run in the heart of Neo Tokyo. As such, he's occasionally privy to a little more information surrounding their going-ons than the average guy, and would be a really decent candidate for going undercover... or accompanying someone who's a great deal more logical in their exploits as their bodyguard. I'm down to get into the hard stuff, but I'm also interested in just... discussing motivations in-character, and actual in-office shenanigans.

If you need someone confident in his skill to be your muscle in the Street Fighter quest, consider lugging Izou around. He was involved in LILITH's fake-dating infiltration mission of the Sapphire Room back in March, so he's already got a vague... handle on playing a certain high-class "role" to fit in.

I was also interested in having Izou pose as a school student for Rise and Thrive, but given he's a vampire for most of November... falls to my knees. You're probably reading this, thinking he absolutely can't do that, but he's got a baby face despite his crude attitude, and his very own artist DREW IT!!! SO!!! I want to do this.......

All-in-all, Izou was originally scouted by Elysium and knows Wriothesley was part of it, so his feelings on being useful in regards to this have only strengthened a bit post-Brasov. He's been here a good while, , and although he didn't initially care about making improvements, his arrogant ass figures he's one of the only ones who can . Well, that, and he's feeling somewhat resentful about someone's concept of "teamwork" and wants to prove himself.

i could fudge the logistics of where school "is" considering it's a cyberpunk universe and being in class doesn't necessarily mean there needs to be windows... i kinda picture the buildings sorta like the ones in wind breaker

Hi, as you can tell by the body of the post, Gebura's got some involvement in this. By which I mean she was enough of a heavy-hitter before the last kaiju and gained kind of a fan following and subsequently got roped into being advertised as someone you can fight in the charity tournament! She's not that thrilled about it, but it's for a good cause, so she's reluctantly ("reluctantly") agreed to do it, which is a good avenue for CR if you want to fight a legendary retired Fixer or if you just want to check on her after all the good wholesome brawling and talk about how the crime scene is annoying and people suck!

But also. She is very bad at being dishonest/infiltrating--she's more the muscle in this sort of situation, so if anyone wants to team up to have her as a bodyguard of sorts or just get her further in to take down gang members, I'm here for it.

this is so funny because Gebura's original name was Kali and me nodding like yeah okay god of war and goddess of doomsday, this tracks--I think they'd make for a ~~hilarious~~ great combo tbqh

A while back, Yesod wanted to look into the black market situation further, especially with LILITH being suspicious of Outsiders, so I'd love to get involved with the investigation / infiltration side of the crime plot developments. I'm definitely interested in playing out undercover agent arc scenarios, as well as discussions with characters around the situation in general. Coming up with infiltration cover stories is always fun.

Shinn is no one's first (or second or third or nth) choice to go undercover in a seriously lethal shadowy organization, but he has teleport nonsense now so someone can put him on a "ping for backup in case of emergency" list.

Someone could talk him into trying to dismantle a high school gang because he's in the right age bracket. This would be a disaster because he would almost certainly end up brawling, but it could be a moderately amusing disaster.

Finally, Shinn would go on a reality show for charity if someone prods him to do it. He deserves to lose in a stupid and embarrassing way.

So Hunter will be trying to infiltrate the gang as a new recruit! He's been tracking these guys for a while and going undercover, so any team ups would be great! He's also more inclined to act as someone's bodyguard than to be bodyguarded, but should probably have a bodyguard himself (even if he doesn't want one). He's gonna be focused on the high school gangs a little more probably, since it's easier to blend in

He'll also be involved with the reality show/Rise and Thrive! He'll be donating food or whatever, but most importantly... in as a fighter! I'm looking for shenanigans and a bit of ham, so if anyone wants to go up against him, help him come up with a persona, or bet on him, etc. He'll be a scrappy underdog, so a good way to probably make your character some money
