▶ 007. TEST DRIVE & SIMULATION #7

TDM & SIMULATION #7

CONTENT WARNINGS: ptsd, ptsd (of children), bloodletting, medical needles, survival-horror elements, vampirism, partial nudity

▶ 001. ARRIVAL / CAFETERIA.

It happens in the blink of an eye, a dash of time – you're taken from where you were. What you were doing... it isn't important anymore, and slowly, you give up the desire of your normal life. When you awaken, figures are looking down on you from a surgical table.

"Yeah, this one will do; let's take them to the rest." That's all you see before losing consciousness again, only to wake up in a pod with many others.

"Your questions will be answered soon enough, as I'm sure you will have many," a female, robotic voice says.

Just then, your pod opens in a dim corridor with many others. Your new life is about to begin... whether you like it or not.

The pods drain their stasis fluid which wakes each Outsider. Outsiders emerge from their pod in only their undergarments which have been supplied to them, and head to a locker room in the medical bay to find a towel to dry off with and a set of gray loungewear to wear as LILITH makes the final decision in assigning the Outsiders to their rightful teams. If a character has any accessibility needs, they will be found here. It's about then they will feel a sharp pain at the back of their eyes, almost like there’s a foreign body lodged on the inside of their head. This pain will subside quickly as their body adapts to the changes, but there will always be a sensation of something being not quite right; that their bodies have been changed forever. They would be correct in thinking that. In the pod, all Outsiders have been surgically fitted with ocular and brain implants that will enable them to communicate with LILITH and the rest of the crew, as well as providing them the information they require. Almost like a computer screen has been loaded into their brains, they will see a loading screen as the implant completes its download. A questionnaire will then pop up, waiting for their answer. A voice, robotic and feminine, will also read along in their brain for them.

█ █ █ LOADING COMPLETE … BEGIN ORIENTATION …

Name:
Username:
Civilian Identity:
Age:
Species:
Origin:
Blood Type:

Do you believe in ghosts?

The system will give Outsiders one chance to provide a truthful answer and choose their username and civilian identity. Should they refuse to cooperate, the implant will download the answer directly from their brain (and give them a username or civilian name against their will). This questionnaire will then be posted on the network for all to view and reply to. Almost like an ice-breaker, if you will. LILITH wants all their newest recruits to learn about each other!

Outsiders will receive a quick brief about their situation: they will be told that the year is 2278 and they have been taken to Neo Tokyo, one of the last bastions of mankind in a world terrorized by various Kaiju and monsters. Only a third of the population remains, and LILITH has gathered talented people from other dimensions here as a last ditch effort to save humanity. Outsiders are free to continue asking LILITH questions through their implant, but there’s no guarantee that they will provide them with a straight answer …

Outsiders will also notice an implant in their dominant wrist. This implant has a barcode in it that will enable them to purchase goods from the local stores in Neo Tokyo. They will receive a starting balance of 15,000,000 KRYPTOS (about USD 100), which is barely enough for a few good meals, groceries, and supplies. They can view their current balance through a hologram window projected by their ocular implant.

While there would normally be a meal available for them in the cafeteria, this doesn’t seem to be the case this time. Robots working within the cafeteria will instead be handing out a small array of food: blood sausages, blood soup, pumpkin curry, candy corn, and iron pills to each Outsider. The blood for the sausages and soup are supposedly from donations and whatever was left from the medical bay. There will be enough iron pills for people to distribute amongst their teammates if needed, as well as other supplements.

That familiar robotic voice is heard again:

"Greetings, my name is SYNTHIA and I will be taking care of you today while the rest of the crew is occupied. Worry not, my children. You are in safe hands."

▶ 002. SIMULATION.

Outsiders are provided sufficient downtime after the last optional mission. Additionally, LILITH will still be offering the same services as the aftermath of the previous battle, including the usual medical assistance and therapy. Those who have lost body parts will be provided a synthetic replacement when they are ready. This replacement will function just like the body part that is lost and can look way cooler (up to you) or blend in with a character's natural body (also up to you.) Refer to our rewards page for more information. Characters will receive a replacement prosthetic (e.g. the basic prosthetic arm/leg/eye) but will need to put in a reward request to further enhance their prosthetic (e.g. to buy a machine gun for their prosthetic arm).

Just because LILITH provides therapy, doesn't mean a character has to go, but the option is there. Outsiders may also be encouraged to visit these facilities, depending on their general mood, which occasionally seems tracked through their oculars. Team members will also be incentivized to reach out to one another to check in and provide some much needed emotional and/or physical support.

While not required, LILITH will still resume its usual simulation training, and those who desire to participate will be asked to arrive at the simulation in varying intervals in their LILITH-issued plugsuits. The design of this simulation will be a bit different and will take on the form of a horror and/or survival game: participating Outsiders will be expected to complete puzzles and make it through various levels of difficulty in order to complete the simulation.

Each Outsider will open their eyes to what appears to be an abandoned town. The town almost appears to be colorless in many ways and is covered in a light fog. The simulation will provide various objectives that range from protecting a single civilian or child found in the midst of this town, to defeating several monsters. The monsters will be reminiscent of any monster the Outsiders have already seen before, the only exception being the “final boss.” During the final boss fight, Outsiders are encouraged to give it their all and push their abilities in order for LILITH to be able to better gauge everyone’s abilities and growth.

Besides, it wouldn’t be considered an actual simulation without a proper battle.

█ █ █ MONSTER DEBRIEF SHEET:
NAME: TRIANGLE HEAD
HEIGHT: 3 METERS
WEIGHT: 300 KG
CLASS: UNKNOWN, CANNOT BE CLASSED.
THREAT LEVEL: MODERATE-SEVERE
LOCATION: Unnamed City, USA
ABILITIES: Able to appear from people’s shadows, able to instill a sense of fear in others. Wields a sword, which it also utilizes as a long ranged weapon.
WEAKNESS: Susceptible to the emotions of the other party. The more acceptance they have in their hearts, the less powerful it becomes.
EXTRA NOTES: Once it is able to instill fear on its target, it is able to cast illusions. These illusions can differ from person to person, but seems to make them confront their biggest fears.

█ █ █ MISSION OBJECTIVE:
✖ Identify any living civilians and take them to safety bunker while fighting off monsters.
✖ Take out all monsters and/or kaiju that are in the area.
✖ Protect safe zones.
✖ Defeat TRIANGLE HEAD.
EXTRA NOTES: Assisting other Outsiders and working together also increases the overall score.

█ █ █ ATTACHED PHOTO:

At the end of the simulation, they will be rewarded with a little pin that says: “I’ve survived ☺” with either a cat, ghost, or witch on it. Outsiders may challenge this as many times as they would like. Unfortunately, as this “horror simulation” hinged deeply on the subconscious, some will find that after the simulation is complete, they may have residual fear left in their bodies that trigger at random times. Whether this be when they’re going to the bathroom at 2 AM, or they’re in the middle of the cafeteria grabbing a late snack. They may also have the feeling that they hear monsters lingering around base, and be struck with the sudden fear that they’re being followed.

While LILITH will rework everyone’s oculars in order to deal with this problem, in the meantime, they suggest watching heartwarming videos and shows. LILITH will have a library of suggestions, including old Christmas movies, cartoons, and even old episodes of reality TV to act as an appropriate distraction. Maybe arrange a comforting sleepover party?

▶ 003. THIS IS HALLOWEEN.

Outsiders who choose to venture out into Neo Tokyo will find the city bustling with life, just as it always is. Halloween has always been a holiday well loved and celebrated in Neo Tokyo, and not even the very real threat of kaiju can dampen the spirits of the people. If anything, being able to find some humor in the sordid state of the world seems to be keeping the spirits of the people up. The fact that some people are walking the streets dressed up as very real kaiju that have attacked the city before seems to prove this point.

Though Halloween is over, the celebrations are dragging on for longer than usual this year. Lucky you, right? After a month of loss and devastation in Transylvania, you still get to enjoy Halloween! Shops, restaurants and bars are milking this holiday for what it’s worth while they still can. They come fully decked out in spooky decorations - skeletons, cobwebs, jack-o-lanterns, and the occasional witch cauldron! Outsiders may simply enjoy the sight of costumed locals wandering the streets, but if they feel inclined to dress up as well, they can buy a costume from a store or use their style upgrade to make a costume (or simply assume that the style upgrade chip had glitched them into a particular costume). Some events running in the city include:

- Bars and clubs are serving Halloween themed drinks and food. Some examples of this would be alcohol served in a jack-o-lantern or smoky cauldron, blood-themed cocktails, cookies with frosted spiders on them, candied apples, pumpkin-flavored food and many more. Feel free to make up your own.
- The Harlem bar in Tokyo is hosting a Halloween rave with drinks, music, and a costume party! The customers with the most impressive, scariest, or sexiest costume get to be crowned king or queen of the bar for the night and will be treated to bottomless drinks and a 50,000 KRYPTO gift card.

- The Tachikawa region of Neo Tokyo is hosting their annual yokai festival! People are filling the streets wearing masks or dressing up as yokai, and coming to the festival in a costume is mandatory or you will be turned away. Don’t worry, a face-painting stall has been set up to help characters become the yokai of their dreams! Live music is playing, people are dancing, and there are numerous stalls selling traditional snacks and yokai-themed foods.

- Pop-up haunted houses and zombie houses are still running in the area! Test your courage by wandering through a spooky, dark room filled with ghastly ghouls, zombies and werewolves (who happen to be … robots or people in costume). Or perhaps you fancy a zombie run event in the dead of the night? Being chased by zombie actors and robot zombies sounds like an excellent way to get some cardio in. (These zombies and ghouls are paid actors and will not harm the customers in any way, so any violence against them is prohibited and will get you kicked out.)

- The Bandai store is excited to reveal its latest holographic virtual pet: Kasper! Kasper exists as a keychain of a cartoon ghost. When turned on, it projects the hologram of a cutesy-looking ghost into the air. This small ghost can float around in the air and phase through walls and people. It is programmed to behave like a pet, coming to its owner when called, enjoying being petted, and getting into some mischief on occasion. Very much like a Tamagotchi, Kasper needs frequent attention or he will fade away and the user will need to start the game over. Outsiders may purchase this toy if they wish. It is for leisure purposes only and cannot be used for carrying things or espionage.

With the popularity of Halloween, law enforcement is on high alert for unruly characters and will be breaking up gatherings of too many people or arresting anyone appearing to be heavily intoxicated in public. There’s a certain gang of trouble-makers who seem to be finding joy in scaring people for real, and they do this by dressing up in clown costumes and chasing people down the street with real weapons. There have even been reports of these hooligans assaulting people for real. Any Outsider who can wrangle these trouble-makers and present them to law enforcement will receive a decent reward from the city.

For the period of Halloween, LILITH has given clearance for inhuman Outsiders to roam the streets without their cloaking disguises. They might get many compliments for their impressive ‘costumes’.

▶ 004. BLOOD DRIVE.

Not only is the mission to Transylvania highly classified, but the existence of vampires amongst the Outsiders is also classified information. For the sake of Neo Tokyo’s stability, LILITH will be ordering all Outsiders to keep this information under wraps. Thankfully, a fanged vampire would not look too out of place amongst the many costumed crowds in Neo Tokyo. In fact, play into the vampire theme, and you might even get your picture taken! You don't need to answer them when your image doesn't show up on film, it's all part of the magic with nowadays technology.

As Dr. Spim works tirelessly on a cure, freshly turned vampires will need to find ways to cope with the changes. A special monitor will be added to their implant that will alert them when they are dangerously low on blood and need to feed. If they continue to ignore these warnings, LILITH security robots will prevent them from leaving the base, forcing them to feed on a blood bag or find a friend to feed on. With some Outsiders going feral from their thirst for blood, LILITH simply cannot allow the people of Neo Tokyo to be put at risk. Vampires who are sensitive to the sun (it's up to you if you would like them to be a daywalker or not) will be given medicated sunscreen that will offer some protection from the sun. It is still recommended that they wear protective clothing and stay in the shade, however.

With the grave hit that LILITH has taken following the last mission, LILITH’s blood bank is running lower than ever before. Not only did the wounded require blood transfusions, but a good number of Outsiders have been turned into vampires and require a regular food source. A creative solution has been proposed: it’s time for a blood drive! LILITH has set up a medical booth in the streets of Shibuya where volunteers and Outsiders may visit and donate blood. For some added irony, the blood drive is vampire-themed, but LILITH would prefer that Outsiders not tell the donors about the fact that some of their blood will go on to feed actual vampires.

Donors rest on one of the comfortable chairs provided, and a trained medical staff or robot will prick them, drawing out enough blood to fill a bag. Those who do not know their blood type can be tested today and get a cute sticker with their blood type on it! Outsiders may become donors themselves or volunteer to prick others; specialized training will be provided for volunteers. There is a refreshment and relaxation area providing beverages and a light meal (such as little cakes, small sandwiches and onigiri) to all donors.

▶ 005. THE ORPHANS.

Following the mission in Transylvania, several cultist children have been brought back to base. LILITH has prepared a holding area with beds for them to stay in temporarily as a long-term solution is prepared.

These children are understandably very affected by what had happened to them and the town they once considered home. In their perspective, LILITH Outsiders had come out of nowhere and the adults in their town had treated them with hospitality. It was typical for the people of the town to occasionally disappear, and the adults would call it being ‘chosen’ by the Lord of the Forest. What was not typical was what had happened in late October: how chaos had emerged between the people of the town and those from outside, which led to parts of the village being burned down, food being taken, and children being whisked away to this mysterious land.

Someone should probably fill them in on the real story.

Being ripped away from your entire world in such a drastic and violent way would not be easy for anyone to cope with. Most of the children appear miserable and withdrawn, some refusing to eat, some crying in their corners and some refusing to speak. While most of the children are shaken with terror, a few of them cope with their raw emotions by lashing out, hitting the other children, kicking the walls and throwing things at other people. The road to recovery for them appears to be a long one, and currently, it’s not clear if they even can go on to live a normal life after everything they have been through.

Since the Outsiders now have some time on their hands, they are heavily encouraged to make an organized effort to help these children. The holding area looks as clinical as any other hospital room and could use …warmer decor. The area is also bereft of toys or anything a child would typically enjoy, so there’s little for these troubled children to do but sit in their corners feeling miserable for themselves. LILITH does provide robot nannies capable of changing diapers and teaching mathematics, but they are cold and emotionless, lacking any real affection. Presently, LILITH does not have the funds to do anything more than meet these childrens’ basic needs, so they are counting on the Outsiders to provide their support in any way they know how. Keep them company? Teach them something new? Give them treats? Take them trick-o-treating? Every Outsider has a different skill to offer.

Outsiders who gain the trust of certain children will be granted clearance to take them around the base and into the city of Neo Tokyo. These children have grown up isolated from modern technology and people outside their town–the sights and sounds will be overwhelming for them, especially with so many people in costumes, so field trips need to be planned carefully.

While still in the early stages, the Outsider known as PUNISHER (Nicholas D. Wolfwood) has proposed that an orphanage be raised to provide shelter for disadvantaged children in Neo Tokyo. LILITH has plans to make a generous donation to this project, and is calling on Outsiders to raise funds however they see fit. Some examples on how to raise funds include: speaking to investors for toy companies, spreading awareness to their social media followings, putting up musical performances or selling merchandise. (If you wish to have your character gain fans or a following online to aid in the fundraising, you do not need mod permission and can just assume it happens.)

▶ 006. AFTERWORD.

Welcome to our 7th TDM! All TDM threads are game canon and characters who don't app will be glitched out of this world. As the TDM will act as the event, existing characters are heavily encouraged to participate. Please use this format for top levels: CHARACTER | CANON | CURRENT / NEW CHARACTER.

There are currently 8 available player slots. New players are welcome to use this TDM to get samples for when APPLICATIONS open.

[Once, really not that long ago (essentially last Tuesday for Akagi), she would have delighted in the prospect of Kaga doing so. Slowly draining their rival, to see that thorn that kept returning faded into nothing. The fox could have no better excitement. But now?

Akagi might be just a little incensed that Kaga would choose that woman over her. To dirty her palate with what's junk food in Akagi's eyes. Why would Kaga do such a thing when she has Akagi right here?

Right next to her!?

And if Kaga were to do such a thing, then... then...! Akagi-sama might not be able to hold herself back~! ♥

But such a thing would have to be for another day. A day when she can get her wits back and decide what sort of view and stance she should take now that things have changed. And changed so very drastically back home. Doubtless, Nagato was now in complete control of the Empire, and doubtless, all others were united for once.

But no, that really is all for later.]

Ara, I see you're as deft as ever.

[The praise was directed toward Kaga's tails as they swiftly procured multiple bottles of spirits. At this point, Akagi wasn't too picky about the choice of drink, either. That wasn't what was important - it was sharing them with her sister, which was important.]

Is that so?

[Akagi found it hard to care. That's not true; she does care, but her care is a little different. It's tragic to hear, yes - the loss of human life is always painful, especially for KAN-SEN, who are meant to fight for the preservation of humanity, as well as the interests of their respective nations. But again, Akagi has only just arrived, and thus far, she's been less than enthused or impressed by things.

Then there's Kaga and her injuries. Her cute sister.

Her cute, foolish sister is trapped in what feels like a far-frailer body. The hand wrapped around Kaga subconsciously moves towards where her arm is missing and grips it.

HARD

Somebody will have to pay the price.

Oh, food, though. Akagi breathes and breathes deep, and her grip relaxes ever so slowly.]

I should be lucky I was able to be let out for tonight. [Like a pet being taken for a walk, Akagi thought with bitterness. That was fine; however, Akagi will still do what's asked of her. Perhaps even gleefully so if it involves battle against (hopefully) challenging foes.]

I honestly can't wait to see it all with you, Kaga. To see what has you so excited as you surprise me again and again~.

[Mainly because it's Kaga that's excited. Excited and always filled with pleasant surprises.]

But first, lead the way, and then we can drink away our cares into the morning.

[personal profile] harboredfeelings 2024-11-14 07:00 am (UTC)(link)
[ Akagi's praise is as ever a boon to Kaga's constant need to make her sister happy with her. Hearing it has her ears standing straight up and the one or two tails that aren't busy carrying bottles or embracing Akagi are set to wagging from it. Mortifying, perhaps, but how can Kaga possibly care?! Who's going to notice her clear joy besides her sister, her dearest sister who is---

Hurting her, ow. The stump is mostly healed by this point but that doesn't make the flesh where Kaga's arm used to connect to any less tender. A light gasp of pain escapes her as her eyes widen slightly. Did... did she do something wrong?! Say something wrong?! Is Akagi Nee-sama just maddened over the mass loss of human life? As a proper member of their kind should be, oh Creator how much more will Akagi hurt her when she learns of all the innocents Kaga killed in revenge?!

The twisted thing is Kaga's looking forward to it. She deserves whatever punishment Akagi might decide upon inn the future. Best that the blazing leader of the Sakura Empire's First Carrier Division punish her number two, make her hurt and suffer and bleed like Kaga herself made the humans do back in Transylvania! Please, please, please... Make her pay so she can move on! ]

Cares? Nee-sama, how can I drink away something I don't have?

[ Get the mask back on Kaga, you let it slip too much in the club. Akagi may have asked her to be weak but she can't be fully weak all at once. A little at a time so as to not trouble her dear sister too much! Let her focus on the physical wounds Kaga's suffered before touching on the mental and the blood that'll never wash off her hands... er, hand.

Outwardly Kaga shines a smile and chuckles, leaning against Akagi a little more as they saunter their way through the streets. ]

All of mine vanished when I heard your voice. With you here the rest of this war will be over by Christmas.

[ Nobody in the history of war has ever said those words and regretted it. Not one bit. ]

[personal profile] kidobutai 2024-11-16 08:52 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh - oh... the look, that look, the one that comes over her face on occasion like a shadow whenever her mind slipped into less than pleasent territory, eased. As did her touch on Kaga's arm. She frowned at herself; Akagi is better. She is better than before! Truly, well, and truly better.

Her mind is still healthy, but she isn't like before. Even if Akagi wouldn't give a hoot over the lives that Kaga took, how many souls had they harvested back home? How many had they managed to feed to sate Akagi's own machinations? They're weapons; delivering death and destruction is what they're made to do in the end. But Akagi is remorseful, beyond remorseful. She's hurt so many...

And now she's harmed Kaga again!

No, she wouldn't care because Kaga was doing it. Akagi's care would instead focus on her sister and the pain she must have been in. How much she must still be in!]

Nonsense, I can feel it, Kaga, all of it inside you.

[Her head slumped down to rest on Kaga's shoulder, still frowning at herself as her hips sashayed alongside her sister's down the streets. Tails entwined with one another.]

It's something you can share with me, Kaga. Me and... [She hesitates to say it. Primarily because she doesn't want to share her sister - for her to turn to anyone else besides Akagi, Amagi, or the Commander.] ...or even someone else from home.

[If any others show.]

You still put far too much faith in me. [She sighed, nuzzling her cheek against Kaga's. Akagi doesn't deserve it, but she still craves affection nonetheless.] But I will do my best to meet those expectations again.

[The damage to her ego is still there after the events at home. Things were fine in the end, yet the damage remains.]
harboredfeelings: (40)

[personal profile] harboredfeelings 2024-11-18 06:44 am (UTC)(link)
[ Ah she should've known better. Of course Akagi sees right through her. There's no-one who knows Kaga better than her dearest sister. Not Tosa (though the distance there still stings) nor Amagi, who whilst able to read her as an opponent wouldn't hold such insight into Kaga's deeper moods. There is nothing in the world Kaga could keep from her Nee-sama even if she tried.

And she wouldn't have it any other way. It's a relief to have someone who can understand her heart so readily. Does the teasing rankle sometimes? Of course it does, but Kaga knows at the end of the day Akagi shares the same deep affection Kaga holds for her. ]

I... I want to share it with you. Just you. But... [ She shakes her head, sighs, and leans against Akagi's nuzzling. ] It's still too fresh. Give me time, Nee-sama. Please?

[ She can smell the fire, hear the screaming, see the bodies torn apart by her weaponry. The children, Creator, how many children did she slaughter just to make a point to the other Outsiders?!

It almost makes her feel sick. The sacrifices to that tree were one thing, there was a goal. Misguided maybe, but it was a mission Kaga could put herself into fully. What she did back in that village wasn't a mission, it was petty revenge.

She's not sure when it happened exactly but one of her tails has popped the bottle of sake and she's already taken a swig from it. The sharp flavors across her tongue bring her out of her thoughts, leaving her blinking in surprise. She can see the steps to the shrine not far ahead now, it's as obvious as the eyes from the local civilians that follow her and Akagi as the pair walk with swaying hips through the streets.

Honestly, humans are so easily distracted. That's what makes them such delightful prey. She's going to miss the vampiric tendencies once they're cured. Oh well... ]

Nee-sama... you don't have to push yourself. As long as you're you. [ Kaga smiles, nuzzles Akagi's cheek again, every bit as craving the affection as her sister. ] That's all I need.

Kaga, I'm your sister and compatriot; we've been through hell together. We've...

[Died together.]

Yes, no. You're right. Time is probably a good idea for now. You know that I'm the patient sort.

[And whatever it is, Akagi wouldn't shy away from Kaga. Especially not when Kaga is all she has here. It's always been Kaga by her side from start to finish. Even after Akagi had led her to ruin, she still stuck by her. With something so clearly wrong with her, Akagi couldn't leave Kaga's side. Like a moth to a flame or fox to a hen, Akagi already had a few guesses in her mind.

Oh, but their destination is already closing in fast. Hm... Akagi looked over the shrine, the steps, the gates, then the bottle in Kaga's hand.]

Who else would I be, Kaga? [One of her own hands reaches to gently wrap her fingers around the bottle Kaga held. Akagi didn't take it from her grasp but merely moved to guide it to her own awaiting lips to take a sip after Kaga had hers.

Slowly, lips lightly pressing on the mouth of the bottle to swallow before her tongue slid out, licking her lips.]

Can't I spoil you with all my might? At least this once?

[She nuzzled Kaga back, sighing as the alcohol worked its way down her throat. It was going to be a long night.]

[ "Can't I spoil you with all my might?"

Doesn't she always? Whenever Kaga's been injured hasn't Akagi insisted on tending to her wounds herself? Done all she can to offer the comfort and companionship to her younger sister despite Kaga's reserved attitude in such things?

How much more could Akagi possibly do to make Kaga happy, it seems mad to even consider there'd be more. As mad as Kaga feels watching Akagi's dexterous fingers wrangle the bottle of sake away, transfixed as the lips that only ever speak sweetness to her wrap around the bottle.

Poor Kaga has no idea how red her face has gotten, she can feel it's heated up, but surely that could just be a result of the alcohol and her sister's nuzzling...! ]

I... w-well... um...

[ It takes until they step under the shrine's gate for Kaga to master herself again. The change is almost instant. She closes her eyes, takes a breath, the bits of tension in her body that may as well be her standard way of being relaxing. There's no eyes on them as they enter the shrine's grounds, the noise of the city begins to seem so distant, and the only other being here for the moment is Akagi.

Peace. This is peace, true peace. Kaga hasn't felt it in... a very long time. Before they attacked the Azur Lane? If she's ever truly felt it at all.

Akagi's right. She's her sister, her dear, beloved sister. Strong, reliable, keen, and loving. She can share anything with her, everything. She can let Akagi spoil her by actually allowing herself to be as weak as Akagi keeps asking her to be. ]

They used you, Nee-sama. The enemy we fought in our last mission. [ Her voice is soft, little more than whisper, her eyes staring full ahead. A glassiness enters them as vivid memory plays through her head. ] They injected me with... something. It made me see you, or something pretending to be you, it... they had it talk me into offering parts of myself to the kaiju they worshipped.

[ They did more than that. Kaga can feel burns across her back that suddenly feel as fresh as they did the night she was whipped raw with a glass studded lash. Scars she can't hide with her minor illusions for some reason, ones that she finds far more distasteful than the one over her heart from the tree... The tree was her choice, the lashing? She had no power there. She hates it. She never should've been so weak! ]

I even fought the other Outsiders. I thought it was what you wanted, that their false god would give us both everything we hoped for... I don't know how I could've been so foolish to fall for it.

[She catches sight of that blush, of course. It's hard not to when they're as close as they are. Under most other circumstances, Akagi would have teased Kaga further about it, teased her, and more. A pink tongue slips out past her glossy lips to slowly lick them, crimson eyes moving to lock with Kaga's shock blue. And then her hands--

Akagi didn't think anything she did was going to be enough. Her mind cried out to give Kaga more and more of her love to the point where it burned! She wanted to dig in and not let go to ensure her sister wouldn't dare leave her.

Not again.

There is still a bit of madness left over in Akagi's mind. She'll be better and act better than before. Less obsessive but still earning and cleaning, she is filled with the desire to give and be given back in return. And that delicious heat from Kaga, the feel of her skin, her scent, mixing with the burn and intoxication of the drink, made Akagi crave ever more!

Then there's that blush and--!

Akagi calms herself, another deep breath. The excitement is almost too much for her to bear.

Then, there's the calm stillness of being alone on the shrine grounds with Kaga, which helped. Akagi's mind had always been a flurry of emotion after Amagi had passed, and parts of her were passed on, used, and molded into what became Kaga and Akagi's rigging, what became them.

Another breath in, and she's calm again.

Her hand lightly stroked Kaga's silver hair as she refocused on her words. Akagi had no clue what happened when she wasn't here and could only put it all together through bits and pieces she'd gleaned. And it made her angry, furious that her Kaga had been made to suffer and be toyed with, angry that her sister was put into such a frail body, angry that she had that look in her eyes, the look she's sometimes seen in the eyes of the other girls, of the Grey Ghost, of Takao, Mikasa, and...!

Her hand remained calm and soft as she fought for control so as not to show her displeasure as she had previously. Displeasure, anger, and fear.]

No, you're not foolish, Kaga. [If her sister wanted a fool, she should only look over her shoulder at the other fox leaning against her. Her grip was soft and warm but still tight and protective.

Akagi's voice is soft and steady, keeping her calm.]

You're not; what happened is past, even when it still hurts here and now. [Akagi's tails move to wrap themselves further around Kaga. She knows there's no real "fixing" things; the scars and pain will be there for as long as Kaga is here and beyond. Akagi can worry about other implications later, ones about their Wisdom Cubes and the effects their cloned bodies might have on them, and... Akagi's obsessive nature takes over to mix in with her desire to protect and love her other half.

Akagi is here now and here to listen to and support Kaga after whatever has happened to her. Nothing will change past actions, but the future can be improved, and the pain of the now can be eased.]

Whatever happened, whatever they made you do, you weren't at fault, no matter the cause. [She knows those probably arent the best choice of words. But Akagi still felt the need to say them. She knows that Kaga knows that as well, but they both also know that doesnt stop the pahntom pangs, the itchy feelings of scars long closed. The regret and shame that burns you up inside.]

Talk to me, Kaga... about all of it... about anything you want. Talk and show me and...

[Let her comfort you however you want; Akagi will spoil her for as long as she can and however she can.]

...only if you wish, I just want to know what happened. And how I can- what I can do for you.

[If she can do anything beyond what Akagi already is at this point.]

[ Deep down Kaga knows it wasn't her fault, not fully at least. She was put into a state far outside her right mind and tormented until her spirit and mind shattered into so many pieces. In some sick way she's almost grateful, it's insight into the maddened loss her dear sister has been suffering since Amagi was lost to them all. Nothing made sense besides what the voice in her head was telling her... and then when she was broken of the kaiju's control, all that made sense was to spill as much blood as possible in return for the harm done to her.

The harm kept coming too...! The boy who promised to protect held her at sword point, another young man tried to feed her to his damnable robotic pet, she was alone. Alone and hated and feared. Even when all she had for family was Tosa she was never so isolated as she was sitting there waiting for her body to heal whilst her planes made short work of the village.

Her own grip tightens on Akagi as she turns more fully into her sister, hugging her as tight as she can with just that one arm, trying her best to keep the tears at bay this time. She manages, only just, but her body shakes plenty to make up for it, her ears pin flat against her head. ]

Just... don't leave. That's what you can do, stay. Please, Akagi. Just stay...

[ Her fingers tighten into a claw like grip on Akagi's back. She's seen it before, Outsiders she's spoken to with her own arrival gone within the week. Enterprise was here, she hasn't told Akagi that yet, she's not sure how badly her sister would take it, but Enterprise didn't stay. Kaga did. A lone ship charting uncertain waters.

She wasn't built to be alone. She's the second flagship, her dear sister's constant guard and loyal number two. If she's turned to killing humans at a whim than without Akagi what purpose does Kaga even serve?! Who can she even trust when the other Outsiders will turn on her the second her bloodlust gets out of control?! ]

I... I killed so many last mission. Men, women, children... none of them were trying to fight back, they were just running. They were terrified civilians, not a threat to us, and I killed them...!

[ And she And she laughs. She's not smiling in the least but she laughs. That thing that's been following her, pretending to be Akagi, it's behind her now. She can feel it, hear it whispering in her ear.

"What are you doing, weakling?" "You don't need her." "Just listen to me, it'll all be okay~" ]

And I enjoyed it. Every minute of it. Watching their bodies get torn apart while they tried to protect each other, burning their homes to the ground, taunting the others that wanted to protect them... Fuck, I've only been here a month Nee-sama! A month and I turn into a raging lunatic. That is what happens if I'm alone. I can't be trusted without you. I need you. So... so stay. Okay? Promise me you'll stay.

[Akagi continued to listen, holding Kaga close and letting her do the same, even with only one arm that grip of hers is tight. Tighter than an average human's, mixed with that explosion of emotions from her usually calm, cool, and hotheaded sister...

Well, Akagi doesn't mind; she welcomes it, welcomes whatever pain or bruises it leaves or any marks left by those nails as they dig in, threatening to tear through fabric and skin (in fact, they do manage it). Her hand runs through her other half's hair. Gently cradling her as she offers what warmth she can. Akagi is no Amagi and is not much help in moments like this. But she can still do her best for Kaga.]

Kaga... my cute, strong sister--Kaga....

[Akagi, by now, has a semi-decent idea of what's happening. How things operate, some of the limitations have been placed on her, but there's still much she doesn't know. She doesn't know everything that happened to her sister or what she was feeling. But she does have a good idea, one made all the more solid from her description of recent events.

It made Akagi's blood boil, and it literally would if they were back home. For now, the most she can make is smoke and steam to waft off of her. Giving Kaga that extra bit of warmth as Akagi sheds off her feelings of anger and regret.]

...No, I know you're more than capable of moving on without me. You are no lunatic, you're no heartless monster, dear sister. [As painful as it is to say that, as much as it goes against Akagi's nature, she felt the need to say it, her voice sounding more than assured of that assertation.] There is no one else I would trust more, Kaga.

[Her hands continued to smooth over her sister's hair gently, cooing into her ear softly and comforting.]

I know because I've always relied on you for years, love. Constantly asking for the impossible and unthinkable from you and your kind heart.

[Akagi breaths in, then out.]

You know I'm not the perfect rock for you to anchor at [but she has to be right now, and Akagi knows that]; I'm the one you've called a bootlicker before. And I know that you're far more powerful than me, Kaga. No matter what you might be hearing inside of you right now, or whatever specters are trying to toy with you might be doing or wanting you to do.

[She bites her lip; it's hard saying all of that - admitting to it, Kaga needs to hear it to try to regain confidence in herself and calm her anxious heart.]

...I promise--to stay, to help you and help heal your heart. Even if I'm not around and far away, and we find ourselves separated, I'll always be with you. The ties that bind us are unbreakable, even over space and time.

[Both literally and metaphorically, part of Akagi felt that the binding of their souls and the connection to the Wisdom Cube network had brought her here in the first place. Akagi is here because Kaga is here.]

...I'm here right now because you're here, Kaga.

[ooc; also am sorry, i'm not the best at writing these scenes. so thank you for bearing with me! >///<]

[ Warmth, love, support. Akagi's always given it in her own ways even though she should by all rights hate Kaga. Her real sister gave her life for Kaga's sake, setting Kaga on her lifelong mission of serving Akagi, yet Akagi's never done anything less than love her as fiercely as she did Amagi.

Even now. After hearing what Kaga's done, after seeing the weakness that she's fought so hard and so long to hide under a mask, Akagi still only offers love and support to her. Honestly... what did Kaga ever do to deserve such tenderness? ]

Heh. Bootlicker. Haven't said that in awhile. Turned into a bit of one myself in the end, huh...?

[ She giggles, unsteady, a bit of a sob threatening to break her, but she holds on.

The tears are falling now and Kaga lets them, all the hurt, all the lonesomeness, she lets it flow out of her in a surge of relief as she nuzzles into the crook of Akagi's neck. Her voice doesn't wavier though, she's still strong, how couldn't she be with Akagi supporting her like this. ]

Neither of us are perfect, Akagi, not on our own. I've only been strong because I've had you to be strong for. So... you're perfect for me, damn it. Don't ever think otherwise.

[ She takes a deep breath, her ears twitch, responding happily to Akagi's voice so close to them, the reassurance in the words. Kaga's body feels heavy as tension starts to melt away, taken by Akagi's warmth and the truth ringing in each word her sister speaks.

Yes. That's right. In every life, every timeline, every sequence of events that could occur, if there's Kaga there's Akagi, and if there's Akagi there's Kaga. The sister ships will always live, fight, and perish together. Even if not at Midway, their fates will never be broken apart from another. ]

Okay... okay. [ Her grip tightens a bit more, possessive, desperate, a little on the "Akagi is obsessed" side of claws sinking into Akagi's back. Kaga doesn't even realize she's doing it. ]

But if anyone tries to take you away... even if it was the Commander. I'll kill them. Got it?

[ Her voice turns to a hiss for a moment. To think she'd pronounce such violence against the one human most of their kind are predisposed to have nothing but fond feelings for. Maybe Kaga should feel worried about that, but she doesn't. ]

[ooc; NO no sorry needed I get it 100%!!! I'm sorry that you came into this massive mess of drama and psychological turmoil gomenasorry but thank you so much for putting up with it

[Perhaps, for a moment, Akagi felt some semblance of resentment towards Kaga. However, the fox's anger was never directed towards her or anyone in particular. It was all fear and grief mixed with a broken mind. Instead, Akagi would have felt that Kaga had also resented her, at least briefly.

From the very start, it was just the two of them, from the port that birthed them to Midway and, in another timeline, the tree. Of course, Akagi would only show Kaga unbound affection, no matter what. She's one of the very few in the world that Akagi will explicitly trust, one of the few to help keep her grounded, and one of the few that Akagi would gladly share everything she has in the world with.]

And to me, you're beyond perfection, Kaga...

[She choked back a sob that threatened to break free. One that she'd been holding onto for some time now. The wet feeling of Kaga's tears pressing through the thin fabric of Akagi's costume and her exposed skin only made that desire stronger and ignoring the pain in her back from Kaga's grip all the easier. Even when Akagi finally takes notice of her breaking skin. It didn't matter, why would it? It's Kaga doing it, and Akagi has been blown to bits before, boiled from the inside out by bombs, and felt the flames of countless ships and cities burning (vague memories granted to her by her Wisdom Cube). Kaga drawing blood out of her and showing her inner emotions is more than welcome.

Her sister will notice it, eventually apologize, and might do something unexpected. Akagi didn't care or mind so long as she was still here and out of harm's way.]

Aha~! Now you're beginning to sound like me, dear Kaga. You don't have to worry; no one is capable of it. And everything, anyone, I take or own is yours to enjoy as well.

[Akagi had already expressed that feeling multiple times previously; what's Akagi's is also Kaga's. It was another sign of the bond that they shared with one another. Her words continued to be soft and warm, calming, as calming as Akagi could make them.

They should be worried about the threat to the Commander (even if it isn't the first time a ship has done so, at least vaguely), but Akagi isn't all that concerned. KAN-SEN are nothing if not resilient in body and mind--and who knows if Akagi stays. She could do something to heal whatever this place has done to her sister.

An added connection... something to reconnect her with her Wisdom Cube. Akagi isn't sure at this point and has yet to be able to make heads or tails of anything right now or the current implications of their being here in apparently cloned bodies. For now, she continued to focus her mind on Kaga, an easy task given Akagi's obsessive compulsions and the sheer love she feels for Kaga.]

Just be sure to talk to me, Kaga. Talk, show me, take out your frustrations, all of it, so that I can also experience what you're experiencing and be able to help you—like you've helped me.

[Akagi's hand moved slowly, softly from her sister's head toward her cheek to slowly guide Kaga's face away from Akagi's shoulder so that she could look at her sister's face as she spoke, see her tears and eyes, feel the emotions within them. To softly wipe away the salty drops from her eyes and the stains they left behind on her beautiful face.]

Can you promise me that?

[ Beyond perfection, her?! Akagi thinks that about her of all people?! Kaga never knew... she never suspected! Much as she loves her sister she always figured Akagi's heart to be fixated on Amagi and the Commander. If she wasn't crying before that confession of her sister's would certainly have started it, as is since she was already in tears she ends up making a noise halfway between a laugh and a hiccupping-sob.

She's always meant it when she said everything she had was Kaga's as well. So generous, so kind, even with the flaw of possessiveness that's plagued her as long as Kaga's known her. The fact that Akagi can turn off that certain thing when it comes to Kaga speaks so much to the connection between them, it's only right. Which means... anything of Kaga's she'll share with Akagi too, of course. There's a certain man she's started yearning for... Nee-sama would eat Ratio alive, but there's no helping it. Good sisters share, right?

A problem for another day however. There's no resistance offered as Akagi guides Kaga's face so they can look in each other's eyes. Kaga's aren't as bright as usual. They're dimmed with hurt, exhaustion, the trauma she's been reliving each night she goes to sleep. But the crying is helping, almost as much as Akagi's soft words and the gentle way she wipes away Kaga's tears. ]

I...

[ A pause as she bites her lip, glancing to the side for just a moment. She wants to say she doesn't need to, that she'll be fine, but they both know that's a lie. After a deep breath and a sigh Kaga nods, her eyes going back to Akagi's, the fire of determination coming back to them slowly but surely. ]

Yes, Nee-sama. I promise. [ Kaga's arm leaves it's position to come up and gently presses itself over Akagi's hand, holding it to Kaga's cheek as she begins to smile. ] I won't hide anything from you. Not anymore. Even if... even if you turn into a bootlicker again, I'll tell you when it pisses me off.

[ An unsteady chuckle through her tears. It's a good sign though, right? That Kaga can make such a statement to Akagi without fear of upsetting her or overstepping her station? She's grown somewhat!

Amazing what dying can do for a girl... ]

[It would be far more odd for Akagi to not think that about her darling sisters! How else is she supposed to view Kaga? Especially after she went and sacrificed herself to a mystical tree-thing!? Akagi's view is still blinded by Amagi, which is true, but she still can't overlook Kaga! Her cute, sweet Kaga...

Maybe turning off her obsessive-compulsive tendencies is a bit of a stretch, but learning how to live with them and move on in life? Not so much. Right now, it was solely focused on Kaga and Kaga alone. And if Kaga wanted to share, then Akagi wouldn't say no! So long as Kaga is fine with her not wanting to interact with or have anything to do with this Ratio person.

Akagi knows there isn't much she can do about that look in Kaga's eyes beyond helping to heal the scars, offering comfort and an ear, and helping her feel safe and comfortable. After so many different battlefields, friends lost, and atrocities committed across numerous timelines, it's a wonder that Kaga didn't have that distant look in her eyes before. Akagi still catches that glimpse of firey will within them, flickering back. She knows Kaga will be fine, especially now. Even if Akagi doesn't physically stick around, she can be assured that her sister will be okay.

Not that she had any doubt in her mind about that. But it was still lovely to reaffirm it herself. She isn't fine now and probably won't be for some time. But Akagi knows her sister's strength and determination will return to her despite the scars and hardships.]

Aha~! You don't have to worry about that unless the Commander shows up. [Their dear, darling Shikikan-sama~! Huff... huff... ahem! No, back to focusing on Kaga! Made all the easier as her nails left Akagi's back, letting the small puncture wounds gently bleed freely. The pain was quickly supplanted with the feeling of soft warmth from Kaga's hand covering her own, followed by that smile.]

Good—I would hate for your captivating looks to be marred by your keeping your thoughts and feelings bottled up.

[Gently, slowly, she grasped Kaga's hand with her own before bringing it to her lips to gently kiss away the specks of Akagi's own blood that had dared to dirty Kaga's hands.]

Don't think you have to shoulder all of your pain and burdens on your own. Not again, Kaga.

[ Gah...! Kaga hasn't been complimented this much in a very long time and it's coming right at the absolute lowest time in her life. She may still hold plenty of confidence in her strength and skills, but her appearance? With the scars and everything?

Well, she doesn't exactly wear a swimsuit anymore. For obvious reasons, besides it being winter. ]

I...- N-Nee-sama...!

[ Poor Kaga. She's positively scarlet while watching Akagi sweetly clean away her own blood from Kaga's fingertips. The embarrassment is enough that it overpowers any vamperic urges to feed the sight of the blood might have brought on, she's too busy glancing off to the side and half wishing she could disappear right now.

The other half of her couldn't be happier ot be spoiled by her dear sister though! ]

That's— you don't have to go so far... a-and your back! I hurt you?!

[ That realization suddenly sets in! Kaga's ears go up in alert as she attempts to gently pull herself from Akagi so she can get behind her and check the wound. ]

I'm sorry! I didn't realize how tight I was holding.

No.

[Her arm holds Kaga tighter and closer as her sister attempts to push away.]

It's a show of Kaga's intense emotions. And one I will bear and show happily.

[Akagi continued, giving her fingers another sweet kiss and gentle lick of her tongue. For Kaga to think that such a thing could be harmful or something to fret over is sweet-- in Akagi's eyes, at least. Isn't it normally the other way around? Even now, especially now, with Akagi's internal need to simply just... tie Kaga up and leave her in her room so she can never be harmed again. ♥

...Akagi is fine, she's fine.

Kaga isn't fine, but she will be fine in time. Or as fine as she can be.
Akagi would like to see Kaga in her swimsuit, please, and thank you. Her sister's beauty will never be destroyed!

Akagi smiles and laughs pleasantly, lively and light without a hint of pain in her voice.]

The only terrible thing about it is that I've dirtied your hands, my dear Kaga. [Akagi's eyes move again to catch her sister's no matter where she moves.]

...I don't think I've gone far enough. Remember, I'm here to pamper you for as long as I possibly can.
