[ it's an intriguing response. he supposes nature and things that were fleeting but beautiful tended to elude him for the most part. it isn't that he doesn't comprehend the appeal, but that he's never exactly been in the position to genuinely enjoy them. but, he supposes that's precisely the allure of them for her. being in the underworld, it may have only been natural to be attracted to what's so completely opposite of that.
