[The "bib" and frumpy tracksuit prove that much, huh? Guess that's one way to make sure you're just not in it for a guy's body - hide the damn thing under ridiculous clothes. Though him wearing the attitude of an idiot was also a surefire way of making sure she really loved him for who he is, not that it was intentional at all. Subconscious, maybe, or just plain dumb Yato luck.
They're a lot alike him, and Bishamon, huh? Both shameless in their determination to end his father, no matter the underhanded, slefish means they have to go to. He did try and recruit Nana, even, too. Got a black eye for his efforts at that.
Hiyori's sigh leads him to stiffen uncomfortably as he regards her, lightly biting his lip in concern. He knows that sometimes talking about the past causes her distress, be it mild or moderate, and he doesn't want that to happen again right before they're about to head out. But this is a conversation they'd end up having eventually, he's sure of it.
She's not far off the mark on all her guesses, knowing him far too well for that. Maybe that's why he suddenly can't meet her eyes and instead finds the ground so fascinating. At least he manages a weak, knowing smile. This sucks for them both.]
Thanks. [Not the kind of first impression he wanted to make when showing off his awesome new garment, but what can you do? ...besides ask more uncomfortable questions that have him turning away, trying to hide behind his new attire's scarf as his eyes darken with pain.]
.....I couldn't. I couldn't do it, Hiyori. What if they'd actually brought him here? I can't put him through all this. He's already died once. And after Brasov--
[He couldn't bear it if Yukine had to go through something similar. It almost broke him already to see Hiyori tortured and abused so much. Almost pushed him completely over the edge. For something to happen to the boy he considers a son... to risk both the people he treasures being hurt at once... It's too much.]
...I'm a coward, Hiyori. You know that. [Couldn't even stand up to his father for over a thousand years. What a wimp. A child.]
